Char Grill — Restaurant in Wake Forest

My family and I went thru the drive thru Friday night, it was not busy, and there was not another car in front of us in the drive thru line. The person taking our order spoke very softly to where we could not understand her and she seemed confused about our order, which we repeated a few times for her. When we got to the window she looked at us and quickly turned her back to us and started speaking to 3 or 4 other girls which stared at us. Finally one of the girls came to our window and asked us what we ordered, she corrected our order in the computer and apologized. All the girls, 3 or 4 of them proceeded to stand there and stare at us, perhaps because our teenage daughter was in the car and they didn't know how to act around someone they possibly knew. They giggled, danced, and proceeded to act very immature. Needless to say our order took a very long time. All the while not one of them came back to the window until our order was finally ready. These girls obviously need to be retrained on how to behave in all situations. Also I suggest they do not wear t shirts tied up/knotted up in the back showing bare skin, very unprofessional. Horrible experience. When we get to the register they tell us the card reader is down, cash only luckily we had cash. They take our order and we sit down. After they call 3 people who walked in before us my husband goes to check. We are told the computer lost it, we re-order our food. We finally get it and on my second bite I realize my hamburger is wrong, no ketchup ( I can fix that) but no bacon. I walk up snd all the employees are standing around with their backs to me. I say excuse me, nothing. A little louder excuse me... lady ( manager who took our order the 2nd time) walks up and I slide the open burger across and I said "it's not right". As I slid the paper the burger slid on the paper, not even enough to slide off the paper. She asks how I paid and tells the kid at the register, give her her money back. No mention of fixing my food. I said fine, just give me my money back, and she yells at me " you didn't have to throwitat me" ! ??? I didn't. So I said, just keep it and sat back down with my husband. 5 minutes later the young man came out, handed me a bag and some money and says "we made it right,but you can throw it away if you want". Good is good. Tonight I got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It was good. Some heat but not a whole lot. I would consider ordering the chicken sandwich again. However, if you're coming to Char Grill, you need to get a burger!

UPDATED 25 February 2024: The food has gotten a lot better at this location. Tonight, my burger was cooked perfectly. Great flavor. I also love their apple pies.

Staff is always helpful and friendly.

I'll start by saying the service is great! The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is kept clean and sanitize. They are practicing social distancing.

The food is mediocre. My burger was a little overdone. Even if it was cooked a little less it still would have been meh. It's not terrible, but it's not great. We got the apple turnover for dessert. It was average, nothing great.

Considering the number of other restaurants in the area, I'm not sure...
