Located in the tiny community of Wakefield, Virginia, on Hwy. 460 between Petersburg and Virginia Beach is Pino's Pizza and Italian Restaurant. Since Miguel Pedraza took over as owner/chef of Pino's we've not had anything less than superb there. I can't recommend any one particular dish because everything I've tried there (and I've tried a lot) has been amazing! His house salad dressing is so wonderful I can honestly eat it with a spoon...and have a time or two. While the cuisine is mostly Italian, there's plenty of fare for lovers of American and even a taste of Mexican. The prices are reasonable, the portions are more than generous, the beer is cold, and the service is friendly. Anyone traveling highway 460 between Petersburg and Virginia Beach should do themselves a favor and stop in for a delicious meal in this quaint, friendly...
Read moreAbsolutely worse experience the first time going there. I ordered the Tilapia; Above it says salad and garlic knots included with. Underneath it says “with veggies AND baked potato” After i went in to show them we had no potato the cook proceeded to say one was not included. I went inside to show the menu at this point where it says AND not OR. He realizes he is wrong and has to change his story. He now proceeds to tell me I’m not allowed to have the salad now. I had to pick the salad or baked potato. Again, the menu does not say this nor was told this when ordering. I gave the salad back and sat there waiting for ONE baked potato for 19 minutes while they served 2 tables their food. The two ladies in the front were amazing and trying to solve the problem but the cook in the back refused. I will always go to Pino 2...
Read moreWe were traveling through town on a busy Saturday night. There were 2-3 servers handling the floor and staying on top of every table with full drinks and food constantly coming out of the kitchen. This team clearly worked their butts off to provide for everyone equally and all with a smile and great attitude. The menu is huge! Italian And Mexican options, took me 10 minutes just to get a bearing on what was available. Curly bacon cheese fries were delicious, salads were fresh, and the portions were generous and savory. We did not have room for dessert as we took home what felt like 4lbs of leftovers. Special shout out for the garlic knots as they were cooked perfectly to have soft insides and great garlic flavor without having to be soaked...
