I chose Odd Alewives for my first time eating/drinking out since the beginning of COVID, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. As someone with a chronic respiratory condition, their meticulous sanitation procedures and strict adherence to masking and distancing rules made the experience as worry-free as it reasonably could have been, and in spite of the considerable extra effort required to maintain a safe and mandate-abiding setting, the staff was still friendly and accommodating. The spacious seating area meant that groups had a generous amount of space between them, and the indoor atmosphere where patrons place their food and drink orders is homey and rustic.
Both the beer and the pizza were fantastic. They make no bones about being a farmhouse brewery, so if that’s not to your taste, it’s definitely not the place for you. If you like farmhouse styles, they have offerings ranging from classic to cutting-edge, and a little of everything in between. In particular, Odd Friend (their dry hopped golden brett ale) was spectacular. That was the resounding favorite...

My first time in I ordered half pours of everything on tap and loved every beer. I've never been to a brewery where I liked a four beer flight, let alone seven!* It's hard to describe but the beers are fresh and delicious. Better to just taste them for yourself.
It's clear the space is a labor of love. They grow ingredients on site. There's a small exterior kitchen where they make tasty, unique accompaniments. The indoor and outdoor seating feels purpose built to welcome guests. It is more gathering place than tasting room or beer hall.
So as much as I would like to keep this one hidden, Odd Alewives deserves the support. I'm already planning a three hour trip just to visit again.
*No flights but you can create your own with half pours. I recommend ordering everything they have...
Read moreNew menu is a bummer. Have been coming here for a few years and while the beer is still excellent, the recent exclusion of pizza from the menu is a big minus. The replacement menu is shooting for fancy but missing the mark.
I spoke with one of the staff and she said that the oven is too hot in the summer and that it’s tough for the cooks, so they aren’t making pizza. However, they are still making flatbreads in the oven (?). Doesn’t really make sense.
There’s also a kind of nasty sign out front now that feels pretty biased against families with children. No outside food? I’m sorry but my kid is not into beer cheese or white bean spread.
The grounds are still lovely and they have expanded seating which is great but without pizza on the menu I’m honestly not sure the Odd Alewives is worth the trip anymore. See you in the...
