Don't waste your time or money here. I frequently go out of my way to support small businesses. I find them to be more personable and friendly than some corporate entity where the employees often could care less. Not this place. I was in the area, had a bit of time and thought a round of miniature golf would be entertaining. Upon arriving I was told "We're closed". Nothing else. Ok, so I check my phone and indeed it's 11:45. They open at noon. I'd never been here, I didn't know. I see the clubs on the side of the building and politely ask if I could just grab a club and start playing? I only wanted to play a game, nothing more. Simple. Hardly a big ask- "NO, the balls are inside!". I continue standing around and a few minutes later the lady comes out and begrudgingly hands me a ball. I thank her and start to play. After a couple holes she comes out to the course and starts to berate me for being "soooo disrespectful" because I'd asked if I could start a bit early. Seriously? Absolutely appalling that you are so imposed upon and had to take 10 seconds to step into the building and grab a ball. The horror! It's so inconvenient that a customer wants to give a business their money. At this point I'd had enough and left. Brilliant! "No sale". I've seen "Karen's" and idiots online and have often wondered "can these people be real?" They are. Business owners have had major problems getting employees in the last few years. If lazy, entitled dregs like this are all they can find then I genuinely feel...
Read moreTLDR -- If you have (or support those who have) IBD, don't support Double Dip Depot. First, let me say that my family and I have been going here pretty much weekly for the last 3 1/2 - 4 years. Before this weekend I would have given them 5 stars as their prices are fair, their portions are sizable, the quality is high and the staff is friendly. However, this last weekend they violated the Americans with Disability Act and I can no longer support them in good conscience. Since it is hereditary; myself and other members of my family have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (A group of diseases consisting of Crohn's disease, Colitis, Ulcerative Colitis, Ostomy, etc.). One of my family members was having a flare up and requested to use their non-public restroom. They provided all required information under the Michigan Restroom Access act of 2003 but were denied by the management to use the bathroom. Despite showing the manager (or owner, I don't know) the law and showing how it allows them immunity from any prosecution due to health dept. codes, etc... he argued he never heard of the law and that anyone could just say they needed the bathroom without proof (even though we provided the proof required under the law) and denied my family member the use of their restroom. My family member then had to drive home in soiled clothes which is something no one should...
Read moreFood: delicious and fair prices. The chicken tenders were actually really good and I thought they'd be bland and boring. My banana split was everything I wanted it to be. My kids loved their ice creams, also. Husband's malt was smaller than expected for a medium, so make sure you're paying attention to size you ask for if you want a big one.
Atmosphere: adorbs. Seriously, it's a little gem. I think 2 and under are free. My 7 year old was $3.50, I believe. One kid loved the dinosaur's eyes turning red at night, one was terrified. I do wish they had turned the overhead lights on, those cute string ones. But that def isn't a make it or break it moment.
They're very friendly, fast and efficient. We will return and tell our friends about it.
I chose dine in because we sat at the tables to eat, there's no inside. Which means no restrooms, for you parents with small kids. There is a gas station nearby though.
After reading a few reviews about employees, I had nothing but good experiences. They were all on the younger side, but they definitely did try! I was impressed by how quick they cleaned up and were done at the end of the night, so they could go enjoy their lives also. Y'all remember, it's an ice cream shop. It isn't your lawyers or doctors office. These are younger kids and they aren't perfect,...
