I was looking for a place to eat last Sunday and found this place at 11am. I read the reviews and saw people mentioning a line and drove straight to Standale.
I got there at 11:45 and there was a line of 20 people or so. I waited patiently and had put in my order and received my food by 12:30 or so.
While I was waiting in line, I could literally feel the excitement around me. Every single person in line seemed happy and excited about the bbq they were about to enjoy.
I ordered ribs, brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken. For sides I had the Mexican street corn, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread, and banana pudding.
All of the meats I tried were excellent. The ribs were the best I've ever had. The pulled pork was probably the best I ever had. I don't usually get brisket, but it was perfectly moist and tender with a real nice bark on it. The pulled chicken was great and I'm planning on making a chicken salad with the left overs.
The side were all spectacular as well. The street corn was definitely my favorite, but the corn bread was the best I've had and the pudding was delicious as well.
I love bbq. I cook it myself at home and like to try the restaurants as well. This place is definitely something special. I can't believe it's taken me this long to learn about the best bbq in GR.
Congrats to the owner and employees for bringing such great bbq to GR. I bet some day the lines are going to be much longer than they...
Read moreAfter backpacking in the woods for four days we traditionally hunt for BBQ. After a harsh debate, the eleven of us decided to try a new spot in Walker. Walking up to a sign that said open Sundays noon till we run out! At Two o’clock we were nervous about the variety, but in the end we all stumbled out with stomach’s distended and belts stretched out! They only hand you a fork as an option for the tender fall apart slabs of brisket that came with a side of fresh house bbq sauce. The ribs were fall off the bone ready as each bite melted into your mouth! From cornbread to coleslaw to Mac, every bite was a sensation!! And when we all decided we couldn’t possible handle anything more, a few brave souls ventured back in for helping of banana pudding!
Folks, let me tell you a story! This story begins with what I thought was just banana pudding, but would later be a life changing adventure! Every bite better than the last, each smooth, creamy morsel somehow became better than the previous.
We were so happy with this 6 out of 5 star experience that we dragged the entire Stubburn team out for a picture with us!
We left with full bellys, full spirits and bags full of Meatballs!
Thank you Stubburn! Keep at it!! Best BBQ in...
Read moreThis is in contention for the best meal I've ever had. I'd heard about this place for a while and went there early. The owner was incredibly wonderful and chatted with us before they opened, brought waters out for everyone. My family got brisket, pulled pork and chicken, rib tips, and meatballs as mains, with baked beans and macaroni as sides. Each meat was the best I've had individually, though my favorites were the brisket, pulled pork, and rib tips. The depth of flavor was mind-blowing. The baked beans were superb as well. The macaroni was good but compared to the rest of the food was unnecessary. Their two sauces and the pickles were all amazing as well and paired perfectly with the meat. We got banana pudding as well to round out the meal and it was in contention for the best dessert I've ever had and a perfect, refreshing end to a heavy meal.
For the food we got, we could have fed 5 people comfortably for about $25 dollars a person, which for barbecue, especially of this quality, is ridiculous.
Very much worth every second of the wait, will definitely be back...
