If I could give Antonio’s 200 stars, I would. I was trying to put together a HS graduation dinner for my daughter with not a whole lot of notice. Beth, the event coordinator guided me every step of the way, as I wasn’t sure if my party would be large enough for a private room. Turns out, it was not large enough, but still 19 people, so she made a reservation for the regular dining room. She was extremely helpful with all of my questions. The restaurant sent me 2 confirmation texts and also called the day of to double check my number of guests and to confirm the options of how they could set up the tables. When we arrived about 15 mins before sit down at 5pm Sunday July 9, they allowed us to proceed to our table before all of our guests arrived. (Sometimes you cannot be seated for a large party until all are there). We were immediately greeted by our server, Tara, and her smiling friendly face. She gave us wine glasses and opened our wine and let us mingle. It was hard to get my large Italian family to actually sit down because our hellos and goodbyes last forever.( if you know, you know!) At that point I asked if we had a limited amount of time bc of taking up space and she said absolutely not, take your time. We were also greeted by Zach, a friendly young man who tended to our every need while Tara was at other tables. I cannot say enough about them. They are hardworking, lovely young people and I want to commend them. I picked Antonio’s solely on photos and reviews, as surprisingly none of my family had ever been there. Well this place definitely passed the “Eye-Tie” test of my picky family. The food was AMAZING. The portions were huge for the pricing. We all went home with leftovers. If I had to give 1 gripe, it had nothing to do with the restaurant, it had to do with a table of snotty people who were later sat behind our table of teens and young children. A woman, who told my daughter she’s a teacher(good for you lady, my children didn’t care) actually turned to my 12 year old daughter and told her to use her indoor voice and said to them that they were too loud. So hey lady, I hope you read this.. you want someplace quiet? Go eat at a library next time and not a Trattoria. The whole restaurant was loud and fun and the typical beautiful Italian chaos that only Italians can appreciate. Only a snot like you would say something to children who are cousins, having fun, laughing, and not just sitting on their phones doing nothing. Yeah lady, you with your friends wearing the idiotic Christmas lights around your necks, you are damn lucky I didn’t know you overstepped your boundaries towards my children and my guests until after we were gone. I am 100% relieved you aren’t a teacher to MY kids. You are a coward for directing your displeasure to a child and not an adult. And yes these rude people actually clapped while my kids were leaving! The rudest people I’ve ever come across.
So, if you are looking for a quiet dinner, maybe a Trattoria isn’t for you. The entire restaurant was loud and full of beautiful fun. Thank you Tara and Zach, you have more kindness and grace than most adults. We had such a great time we didn’t want to leave! We will be...
Read moreAfter a wonderful day at Point Pleasant Beach, my son and I were looking for a nice dinner spot. Our first choices were packed, so I found Antonio’s Trattoria online and decided to give it a try. From the outside it looked promising, but unfortunately our experience didn’t match the expectations. When we arrived, the parking lot was busy, yet the dining room had several open tables. I asked for a table for two and was immediately asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t, and right in front of us the staff debated where to seat us, which felt a little uncomfortable — as if we were being judged. They also required my phone number “as policy,” which I found unusual but complied with. We were seated right away, but the service throughout the evening felt very indifferent. Our server wasn’t rude, but he had no warmth or engagement — no smile, no interest, no effort to make the experience pleasant. It almost felt as if serving guests was a chore. For drinks, I ordered white milk for my son and water for myself. Later, I noticed other tables being offered Pellegrino and specialty options that were never mentioned to us. Small detail, but it added to the sense of neglect. The complimentary bread with olive oil was very good, and the calamari appetizer was fine. We also received complimentary salads, which unfortunately were not. The greens were fresh enough, but the dressing was harsh and off-putting, making them nearly inedible. No one asked why we barely touched them. For mains, my son’s spaghetti and meatballs was straightforward and seemed fine. My dish — the Scallops alla Trattoria with pasta, olives, and artichokes — was a major disappointment. The flavors clashed rather than blended, leaving the whole dish sour, unbalanced, and frankly unpleasant. I tried a couple of scallops but set most of it aside. Again, no one asked why my entrée went back untouched. Dessert was a mixed note: the pistachio croissant was actually very good, but the coffee tasted watered down. When the bill came, there was an added credit card surcharge I wasn’t told about in advance — not a huge deal, but something worth noting. Overall, the evening felt cold, impersonal, and disappointing. The food was inconsistent, the service indifferent, and at no point did anyone check in about our experience or care that full plates were being sent back. Perhaps this restaurant appeals to its loyal crowd, but for us it fell far short of what we would expect from a trattoria. Unfortunately, I don’t see...
Read moreWent here Saturday fro my girlfriends birthday, we were 9 people and everyone at the table was delighted with the service and the food! Giuseppe who came too our table to welcome us and open our wine etc. was the most adorable, pleasant and welcoming gentleman. He started our night off with laughter and smiles as soon as we sat down! My girlfriend wants to adopt him and have him around all the time. Our waitress was terrific, she made fantastic recommendations from each category on the menu and she was spot on with every dish. She had such a sunny disposition. beautiful smile, kind and just happy to be there attitude. I hate to say her name escapes me but I will update my review when we go back to acknowledge her properly because she deserves it. The menu has a large selection, some the usual suspects for a good Italian place and some extra special dishes as well. Just to name a few, the starter I chose was the Italian long hot peppers stuffed with Gorgonzola and prosciutto were to die for! We loved them so much the next day my girlfriend tried to replicate them when she made us a steak dinner at her house. Our husbands were thrilled with the outcome but we thank the chef at the restaurant for the inspiration. We tired the Pollo Lombardo (also fabulous!) cream sauce, brandy, artichokes, mushrooms yum. The waitress automatically said would you like the pasta in the same sauce...Yes please!... Not every waitress does this and when they do I say kudos that is exactly as it should be when you have a cream style sauce. My husband had the Vitelli Milanese which he raved about as well. The birthday girl had Vitelli Saltimbocca another stunning dish! As I said, everyone at the table loved their food, loved the service and overall the restaurant gets 10 stars from us! Its BYOB, a huge winner in our book. The prices are very reasonable, the quality and quantity are off the hook for every plate we tried. Can't wait to go back before the summer crowds get here. Will truly be a regular here in the future. Thank you all for such a fabulous experience. You run a wonderful restaurant. Next time I'll add some pics. I was having so much fun I forgot to take photos! But I will next visit and I will also take a pic of our...
