Wallingford Pizza House — Restaurant in Wallingford

I don’t know what has happened to this place since I stopped ordering pre-Covid but it’s just a mess now. Since I’ve ordered the last couple times they have gotten something wrong on my order every single time. Yesterday they charged me for fried mozzarella then gave me mozzarella sticks, and delivered a cold pizza with the wrong toppings. So I finally decided to call and say something bc usually I don’t I just eat what I didn’t order. He said that he would give me a credit for the pizza so I called back today (the next day) and asked if they could deliver the proper pizza that I didn’t get yesterday. The man tried to charge me for it and then tell me that I also had to pick it up if I wanted it. After explaining to him that it’s incredibly bad business to mess up someone’s order, tell them that they could get a free one then try to charge them for it, and make them go pick it up, he finally gave it to me. Not only was this restaurant visibly dirty, but you could actually see insects (living and dead) in the dining room. How long was the cleaning neglected for a customer to see as many dead insects as we saw? I typically do not come online to review restaurants, but my experience here made me feel compelled to do so. I have seen this place go through a lot of changes over the years, but this last change of management/ownership was apparently for the worst. I will NEVER bring my family here again. In retrospect I'm relieved we didn't get food poisoning, and do not wish to try my luck a second time. Lastly, while we were trying to eat our overly thin pizza slices covered in overly watery tomato sauce, all we were able to hear the whole time from the very close kitchen were men, yelling loudly, in another language. I was not able to figure out if they were fighting or happy, but either way, it was uncomfortable because the dining area is only a 10' x 10' room at the most, where you serve yourself from...

I ordered a cheesburger along with large pizza and a side of fries. The order cam to $40. I politey called and told them my order was wrong that it was a burger instead of cheeseburger. The owner gave me an attitude and said he would bring another burger within 45 minutes. Mind you im 5 minutes away. He said give him back the old burger and he would bring a new one. I told him the burger was for my 6 year old daughter and it wasnt right that he would make use wait another 45 min when we already waited about 40 min for our order and it was wrong anyway. When i told him it didnt seem sanitary to take a burger back that had been delievered he said its not against the law and said "yea well im not giving you free food so give the old burger back and then you can get a new one" I told him to not bother sending anyone back we often order from them and used to highly recommend. We will never be going back but starting to go to Amore, Pizza....
