El Cabo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Walnut Cove

The food was great, but the service wasn't good. Alyssa was our server and she took our order and brought our drinks. While we were waiting for our meals for our party of 4, she asked if I would like a second margarita and when I said no, before I could even react she took the glass I currently had and wasn't finished drinking yet. Part of our food comes out, one order is wrong and one is missing. They take the mistake back to fix, so at this point we have two of the 4 meals on the table. We ask for utensils/napkins since we were never provided any. She brings out the last two orders and utensils. Instead of just setting the utensils down, she asks if we need one for everyone at the table. I'm not sure why that's even a question in a sit down restaurant. If she had brought separate napkins, we maybe could have done without silverware, but we have two boys and one of them ordered wings. Yeah, we need the napkins. As we're finishing up, my son is still eating and has a mouthful of food as she approaches the table. He still has one whole taco left, she's reaching for his plate and asking if he's done. He's literally still eating! She never asked if we needed a box to go, nothing. At this point we just say, yup were done and pay the check.

I get keeping things moving and turning tables and serving as many folks as possible, but I've never felt so rushed in a restaurant. I could understand if we were there for an extended amount of time or if it was close to closing time, but we were there less...

2-star: Food quality is bland. Being Mexican myself I can’t really even say it is even close to being Tex-Mex food.

1-star: Service My wife and I tried this restaurant since we were visiting the town for the day. We sit down and ask if the lunch specials are still going on pointing at the specialty, separate, lunch menu. We are told yes and we both order the Texan fajitas from the lunch menu for $11. We receive the bill and are charged $18 per plate. We ask why isn’t this the right price. They said it is because we didn’t say “lunch” fajitas…I guess pointing at what you’re ordering doesn’t count. Next we ask for a manager and “oh there isn’t a manager on duty…” what!?!? So best they could do was give us $4.98 off per entree, which is still $7 more than what it was supposed to be. So whatever I just counted my losses. It isn’t right that they just couldn’t fix their mistake. Needless to say I won’t be eating here ever again.

Tilapia has a strange taste to it, Vera Cruz 2 pieces of Tilapia & 8 Shrimp I asked if I could get more shrimp instead of Tilapia they said yes with a $3 upcharge did yaw hear me no fish just xtra shrimp & still want to charge me more after taking away an item & putting another in it's place I told the girl I'm better off to just throw Tilapia away & keep it like it was I had to throw sauce on it & it still had that taste, I dkn about anyone else but I'm tired of going to restaurants & not getting what I want, salsa, guacamole, beans, & veggies good. Shrimp overcooked, rice could be better! Oh & there were no 2 pieces of Tilapia hidden under those veggies like 1 1/2 pieces lol I guess they used veggies to try to disguise it which I gotta uncover it to see to eat it so...
