I'm pleasantly surprised. Since the '90s I used to love Yan's kitchen in San Francisco (at the base of the Transamerica building) and would drive out there just for their food. It was family run and a hole-in-the-wall but the cleanest and best tasting Chinese food ever, and I've lived on both coasts. They only used the best cuts of meat, never fat or gristle. They closed :( but then we found Yan's China Bistro in Walnut Creek. It was pretty good. Not on par though with the original Yan's but the best I could find. They got pretty pricy in the last few years, but we needed Chinese food the other day and they were closed. I tried Kung Fu (delivered by grubhub) and wow! They are close to the original Yan's! They are now my favorite and go-to when we want Chinese food. Excellent taste, excellent spices, and most important, NOT GREASY! I'm so glad that I accidentally found this place. I can't really comment on the atmosphere as ours was delivered but I'm pretty sure it was 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. But you should...
Read moreI had ordered takeout from here once before, and they were quick and the food was good. Today, I ordered something I was looking forward to having - pan fried noodles. I distinctly remembered saying it a few times - because THAT was what I wanted more than anything else I order and I was ordering 2 orders of it - and my family, who heard me order, also heard me ask for pan fried noodles. When I picked up my order and brought it home, I got regular chow mein. I called back to let them know and that I could bring back the order (they couldn't because of COVID, which is understandable) and the lady was really aggressive about the whole situation, telling me that it was essentially my fault, there was no way she could make a mistake, she's worked there for many years, etc. She wasn't going to even consider it hcould possibly be her fault.. The whole situation really soured my experience with them. Decent food but staff can...
Read moreWe placed a large order last night at 6 pm and were told to come and pick it up at 6:45. We arrived just before 7, with several people waiting around. None of our orders were ready. I waited a long time, and could see how rudely the lady treated people. She would mix up names and phone numbers, and it was always the customer's fault. No one's order was on time, and a few orders made online were not there at all. My order was not ready til 8. She rattled off my items and had one wrong. She assured me it was my fault. I got home, and, of coarse, the fried rice was missing. I'm certain she would say that was my fault. We've had bad service here before, just not quite as bad. But this was...
