Love these bagels! Run by a nice young couple; the guy is a bagel whiz. Truly an artist. We make the drive frequently! They’re very new, maybe only open for 2-3 months so far so they’re still working the kinks out.
The biggest pro is the incredible bagels which is the whole point. The second pro is the high quality local roasted coffee they use.
The biggest con is the wait time - we often wait 15-30 min for our bagels, even without drinks. I think the reason is they have the possibly the world’s smallest toaster oven. They really need to get another or upgrade to a larger size- it’s killing the wait time which will impact their returning customers.
The atmosphere gives beach town vibes which is perfect for Onset, not meant to linger but good enough to wait for and then eat your bagels.
Professional recommendation here from a service provider: highly recommended someone at the cafe updating things on their social media as they go “hey friends, closing early today, be here by XYZ”, or “just ran out of cherry matcha, but we’ve still got good options!” - no one wants to do it, but these cafes especially new ones live and die by social media and reviews. I’d like to see it thrive, so I hope they continue to improve....
Read moreJust waited over 30 minutes to receive one bagel immediately at opening (doors also opened late today). While it’s great to have a new coffee shop in town, I think these guys have a little bit to learn about operating business efficiently and consistently as locals can only handle growing pains for so long. If you forget a customers order 30 minutes after they’ve been patiently waiting perhaps offer a coffee on the house or a refund on the bagel. Their iPad is constantly having issues (make sure to know how to work tech) they open at 8am (which in a town like this is simply too late to open for work days…should be 7am the latest), and the style/aesthetic could have had a little more effort like design on the windows and maybe more modern chairs. The bagels themselves I must say were very good and different for our area which was nice. Haven’t had the coffee so can’t speak to that. If they can get over these learning curves they have potential, but at the rate they’re going they won’t be able to handle the summer rush. I hope they take this review as constructive criticism to grow better because we’d like to see...
Read moreNot really sure where these 5-star reviews are coming from. I came in with two other people around 10:30 in the morning on a Saturday. We were the only ones in there, and frankly the environment felt a little sketchy.
There's barely any advertising on the windows to indicate that this was a coffee shop, and we were the only ones in there. The bathroom is claustrophobic, with no trash receptacle for the paper towels. The only thing they sell is bagels, coffee, and tea. I didn't get a bagel but my friend did, he said it was the worst bagel he ever had, what with how soggy it was. My coffee wasn't bad, it was very strong, so I guess it's a perk for those who like their coffee on the strong side.
It's also funny how, if you try going to their website, you get a 404.
Unless they improve their advertising, improve the way they toast their bagels, and serve more items than just bagels and coffee, I don't see these guys...
