I traveled from Ohio to Detroit for grocery shopping. On the way I stoped by for lunch at this restaurant. As a Bangladeshi I immediately recognised the name, as it is in pure Bangla. Bengali word “Adda” means friendly gatherings. And boy so it was! As I entered the restaurant, I immediately got the vibe of Bailey Road from Dhaka. It had a nice wide open space, and a music lounge. On top of that the waiting staff greeted me warmly. The menu had some very traditional Bangladeshi food on it. I ordered Tehari for myself. Morog Pulao and Ilish Pulao to go. The food price was very reasonable. As I was savouring the delicious meal, the owner lady came out at one point to check on my food experience. She was well dressed and well mannered! I felt like my sister checking on me after coming home back from school! It was nostalgic for me in many ways. Definitely became a lifelong fan in just one visit! Wish to go back again many times over. Only suggestion I have that maybe the salad content should be increased with the dishes. Otherwise it’s all fantastic!

Restaurant Review: The Gastronomist's Haven

Nestled in the heart of downtown, The Gastronomist's Haven promises an unforgettable dining experience that seamlessly blends elegance with culinary mastery. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance exudes sophistication, with soft lighting and tasteful decor setting the stage for what lies ahead.

Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a refined yet inviting atmosphere, perfect for both intimate dinners and celebratory gatherings. Soft jazz melodies play in the background, adding a touch of class without overwhelming conversation. The seating is comfortable, and each table offers just the right amount of privacy.

Service: Impeccable service is the cornerstone here. From the warm greeting at the entrance to the attentive care throughout the meal, the staff at The Gastronomist's Haven ensures every guest feels like a VIP. Waiters are knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations and accommodating special requests with grace.

Cuisine: Prepare to be dazzled by the culinary creations that marry innovation with tradition. The menu, curated by Chef Marcel, features a delightful array of dishes crafted from the finest seasonal ingredients. Each plate is a work of art, both visually stunning and bursting with flavors that dance on your palate.

Signature Dishes: Standouts include the seared scallops with truffle risotto, a decadent marriage of textures and tastes that lingers long after the last bite. For meat lovers, the sous-vide filet mignon is a must-try, perfectly cooked to your preference and accompanied by a rich red wine reduction.

Desserts: Save room for dessert, as The Gastronomist's Haven excels in sweet finales. The chocolate lava cake oozes with molten goodness, while the lemon tart offers a refreshing tanginess that cleanses the palate.

Overall Experience: Dining at The Gastronomist's Haven is not just a meal; it's a journey through culinary excellence. Whether you're marking a special occasion or simply indulging in a memorable evening out, this restaurant surpasses expectations at every turn. The combination of exceptional food, attentive service, and inviting ambiance creates an experience that is as satisfying as it is unforgettable.

We decided to try this restaurant based on glowing recommendations from family members who had visited before. However, our experience left much to be desired. The food we ordered lacked authenticity and failed to impress our taste buds. The only positive note was the owner's receptiveness to criticism.

Our extensive order included fried chicken, vegetable shingara, chicken soup, fried rice, "nudools" (interesting spelling on their part), chicken 65, mango lassi, biscoff cheesecake cup, and borhani. Unfortunately, we were informed that the kitchen ran out of chicken lollipops after an wait of over an hour.

Fried Chicken Wings: The chicken tasted good, reminiscent of restaurant depot wings but less fatty. However, at $2.50 per piece, it felt excessively overpriced, more fitting for a high-end restaurant than the type we expected.

Vegetable Shingara: Nothing special here; it tasted okay. The accompanying sauce didn't enhance the experience, and at $2.25 each, the pricing felt a bit steep given the size and taste. Maybe the intricate preparation justifies the cost.

Chicken Soup: The soup was okay, and it improved with the addition of sauce (possibly sweet and sour). However, it left an odd film in the mouth, possibly due to insufficient heat.

Fried Rice: This dish stood out as one of the better ones.

Nudools: Lacked flavor and taste, possibly better as a complement to another dish rather than a standalone option.

Chicken 65: This was the worst rendition of chicken 65 we've encountered. The chicken lacked crispiness and was drowned in a curry-based sauce. Leftovers were so unappetizing that we had to discard them.

Mango Lassi: It was okay but less sweet and flavorful than other places.

Biscoff Cheesecake Cup: The cheesecake seemed old, leaving a stale aftertaste.

Borhani: It was pretty good, though a bit too sweet for...

Being a Bangladeshi immigrant in the USA, finding a place that truly captures the essence of home is like discovering a hidden gem. 'Adda Restaurant' not only satisfied my craving for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine but also transported me back to the bustling streets of Dhaka. From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance made me feel like I was sitting in a lively adda (gathering) back home. The menu boasts a delightful array of dishes that showcase the rich flavors of Bangladeshi cooking. The kebabs, a personal favorite, were grilled to perfection, reminiscent of the street vendors in Old Dhaka. The biryani, a quintessential dish, was a true masterpiece. The aromatic blend of spices and perfectly cooked rice took me on a nostalgic journey. It's not just a meal; it's a taste of home. The diverse range of curries offered reflected the culinary diversity of Bangladesh, and each bite brought back memories of family gatherings and celebrations. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail in preserving the authenticity of Bangladeshi flavors. The use of local ingredients and traditional cooking methods added an extra layer of nostalgia to every dish. The staff, some of whom are fellow Bangladeshis, were not only friendly but also shared stories that made the dining experience feel like a reunion with old friends. For anyone missing the taste of Bangladesh or those eager to explore the vibrant flavors of Bengali cuisine, 'Adda Restaurant' is a culinary haven. It's more than just a place to eat; it's a place to connect with your roots, share stories, and savor the flavors that make Bangladeshi cuisine so special. 'Adda' truly lives up to its name as a gathering place for those who long for the comforting taste of home in the...
