Anthony's Pizzeria Warren — Restaurant in Warren

We were craving a Chicago Style pizza the night we ordered and after hunting on the internet, we found Anthony's. Unfortunately, it was okay, nothing to write home about. It was our first time here. The staff was very friendly and polite on the phone and in person. The place wasn't very hard to find. The pizza was ready on time and it was made correctly but that was about all I can say that we liked about it. We ordered a 'Chicago' Style pizza with mushrooms, onions, sausage, and pepperoni as well as a large round sausage. First, I say 'Chicago' because this wasn't a true Chicago style pizza. This pizza was more like a round Detroit style pizza because there wasn't a top crust, just a bottom crust, toppings, cheese, and sauce. Next, their signature sauce tasted overly sweet; this wasn't just the opinion of 1 but 3 adults and the 3 kids said it tasted off (probably the sweetest). Overall, everyone has their own taste. Don't let this review stop you from trying them. You may love them like other reviewers have or you may not. They're just not for us. Customer service was good on the phone and in person. It did take about 45 mns for my pizza to be done, which is a long time. I ordered a large square deepdish veggie pizza with anchovies welldone with a side of ranch. Notice two of the pics i uploaded show the amount of oil in this pizza. The cardboard became so soggy that not only is my car going to smell like pizza with anchovies for the next few days, but it seemed like the cardboard was going to fall apart. That by itself to be honest is minus 1 star. Would be 2 but the other star is subtracted because the pizza was a bit tooooooo moist and soft other than the well enjoyed crispy crust, although I asked for welldone and waited a long long time. The ingredients tasted great. The anchovies tasted very flavorfull and pretty powerfull. I always order anchovies on pizza as often as I can, and this one is gooood. The ranch was nice and creamy. Honestly, I thought the pizza was average in my opinion but my boyfriend wouldn't stop going on and on about the sauce and how great it was, so I put the score at a four. He also really liked the wings, his only complaint was they needed more sauce, but he said the chicken itself was amazing, but I don't eat wings so I can't really say for myself but he is a wing nut, so, I took his word for it! Also, the guy working was suuuuper kind and even waited a few minutes for us to find the place as it was closing time and we accidentally passed it!
