Waited over 10 minutes after being seated for water. Then another 10 minutes for waitress to take our order, she never came. Finally, we just left. There were only two other customers in the restaurant, 3 waitresses, they weren't busy with anything except talking amongst themselves.
Reply to owner response: After 7 years the owner responded to my review doubting my experience. I said there were only two other sets of customers in the restaurant, not that we were the only two customers (as stated above). If you notice my overall reviews, you'll find that I'm big on lifting businesses up and typically post only good reviews. You've got to be pretty bad for me to post negatively. It was in poor manner to insinuate I lied about my experience instead of apologizing. If their response doesn't tell you all you need to know about this place I don't know what will. It's been over 7 years and I'll tell anyone I know not to go to this establishment. I'll be adding the rude response to my review to my cautionary tale. I own a business and would never reply publicly or privately to my customers like...
Read moreThe waitresses are absolutely wonderful but for the price I'm paying for food I'd hoped for better quality. Most expensive coney island I've been to. I've gone to other coney islands in more upscale areas that didn't cost this much. They charge a redicilous amount for extra ranch and it's tiny tubs that are rarely full. Other coney islands give you the big tubs and charge less or give them for free. For the price of a childrens chicken tender meal, only getting 2 strips, i can get a big one with 5 at other coney islands. This one also wont give you the pop that comes with the kids neal if its take out. You pay the same price as if you were eating inside but they jip you the pop? The food is mediocre. The portions, especially for the price, is small. The silverware and coffee cups were dirty and the bathrooms disgusting. Makes me nervous that my food was prepped in these conditions. I can see this coney island from my home but I drive 20 minutes to the one in royal oak or go up two miles north of here on can dyke to...
Read moreI had a very good breakfast. I was surprised at how good the food was, especially since I wasn't expecting much based on the appearance of the place. While the decor screamed "cheap greasy spoon joint", the food was a couple steps up from most Coney Island diners. The eggs seemed very fresh and particularly flavorful, pancakes were buttery and not too heavy, the bacon was not fatty, and all the ingredients seemed very high quality. The prices were a dollar or two more than what I expected, but I guess that goes with better food. This is a great example of getting what you pay for, and it's worth it.
I think if the place got a good cleaning top to bottom and had a little cleaner appearance, it might give a better first impression. Regardless of appearances, the food is good and you won't be disappointed by...
