I really wanted to like Wally’s Nashville Hot Chicken. A local joint that offers one of my favorite foods and isn’t part of a big chain? That’s the dream.
My friends and I stopped in for lunch recently, bright eyed and hungry for hot chicken. We were surprised it was empty around lunch on a weekday, but hey, maybe we somehow missed the lunch rush?
The staff is super friendly, and happy to help with recommendations/ confirm the popular options. We all love spice and ordered either the Extra Hot or Firecracker level for our tenders. We were disappointed to hear that the soda fountain wasn’t working, but oh well — they offered soda cans for purchase instead! The interior itself is pleasant and offers plenty of seating if you’d like to stay for the meal, but it seems like most folks take it to go.
It took much longer for the food to be ready than I’d expect from a restaurant of this size, especially where ours were the only orders being prepared.
Now down to brass tacks — the tenders — the disappointment we experienced…. My “Extra Hot” tenders were just a touch less spicy than the buffalo tenders at Culver’s. Even worse, my friend remarked that his 2 year old would be able to handle the heat from the Firecracker tender. As a follow up, I think the chili pepper mural inside the building needs to be repainted so the smiling mild pepper represents all spice levels. Even leaving aside the spice issue, the tenders were a not great to mediocre taste — you can see why we’d leave disappointed.
I really wanted to like Wally’s Nashville Hot Chicken. What a bummer that Wally’s didn’t live up to...
Read moreI RECOMMEND this place to everyone. My family has been here several times and we've yet to have a bad experience. We've tried almost everything on their menu at least once and have not been disappointed. The chicken sandwich always tender and moist. The Wally's sauce is unique and DELICIOUS. The shakes that they offer are the PERFECT consistency and you can even add Oreos or M&Ms. The portions are HUGE for the price you pay; tell me where you can buy two full size chicken sandwiches and a large fry for $11.99, I'll wait. When you ask for one of their side dishes, they DON'T SKIMP on those either. Customer service isn't lacking one bit either. When it comes to manners on the phone or in person, they are polite, kind, and accommodating. The store has always been clean every time I've goin into pick up our order. I REALLY DON'T HAVE A SINGLE BAD THING TO SAY...
Read moreI have been a regular customer of this place since the time it opened. This place is very close to my home and I visit there often. They used to have large portions and the food tasted good when the owner Wally used to make them. But nowadays, he is nowhere to be seen and the food portions and taste seems to have degraded a lot. New menu, increase of prices, and change of cooks seems to have affected the quality of this place a lot. I used to like their food and I still like it. However, my only recommendations would be to keep the food quality and sizes as before. Instead of loading the box with fries, try to keep it balanced with the size of your sliders. Overall, keep up...
