We visit Duplin County every few months and always stop either on the way down or the way back at this particular Smithfields in Warsaw. We've eaten at just about every Smithfields on I-40 and none compare to the level of quality in Warsaw. The food, service and kindness are just not the same as the greatness that comes from this location. Yesterday, however, we witnessed something that brought tears to my eyes and I had to share. An elderly woman and a child, maybe grandchild, of about 6 year old had ordered ToGo food inside. As they stood and waited for their order the woman had placed her drink on the table next to where she stood. Quite quickly their food came up and she took the bag of food and set it next to her drink to look and see that she had all her order. In doing so she accidently knocked her drink over and it went all over the floor and chair. She quickly grabbed an employee in the lobby delivering food and told her of the mishap. Much to my surprise, within seconds 2 employees came from behind the counter. One, a young lady I found out later was named Eden, grabbed paper towels and the other carried the wet floor sign to the spill and then unlocked the mop closet. Eden was so kind to the woman and assured her it was OK. She quickly wiped up all the drink off the floor even while she smiled at and talked to the woman who was obviously embarrassed. Once must of the fluid was up, to keep it from running and causing more of a fall hazard, she grabbed the mop from the closet and finished the job. Eden had the best attitude and was so kind. The woman was given a fresh drink and her grandson was given a balloon and off they went to their car. Eden went right back to work. I had seen Eden in the lobby multiple times while we were there asking people, including us, if she could get them anything or filling drinks and taking their empty plates to the trash. She spoke to everyone in the lobby at some point or another. I know this review is long but you don't find this level of compassion and service much in the world, but in the service industry its almost non existent anymore. I was so impressed with Eden I had to stop her and tell her before we left. She told me things like that happen all the time, they're just accidents and she was happy to help. You, Ms Eden, are the exception. You make a difference in this world and make the world a better place. Smithfields... big kudos for always having the best food, service...

Editing my review:
Not sure what happened in 2 months, but I am in shock of the lack of communication I have received from this establishment. As you see I placed a catering order and everything went smoothly. And the service was good. I have called over 6 times asking for a copy of the receipt. I need it for my company. I call and ask for a manager, manager claims she doesn’t know how to do it. Every time I call they say, we will ask the higher up manager to do it when he comes in. I leave my information and hear nothing.
As of Today (11/17), I called again - one employee answered fine and heard me, perfectly. A man answered the phone, he claimed to barely hear me, rudely hung up on me. I called back no answer, I called again, a woman said our phone is messing up and I got hung up on again. Thankfully she called back and again I got the same information we have to wait until the manager comes in. I left my info again.
Any company who thinks it’s a good idea to host a catering event from this place, don’t do it. Save yourself from explaining to your accounting department all the excuses you...

OK... So... This is a BBQ restaurant right? Why don't they have "real" BBQ sauce?! You know... The kind that 90+% of the USA would consider to be real, which has that thick, tangy, sweet and smokey flavor all at the same time. Not a nasty watery sour/tart vinegary taste. Smithsfield's has their own idea of BBQ sauce and apparently doesn't cater to the majority. At least have some thick, sweet and tangy sauce on hand for the majority of people who like that sort of thing. Cater to everyone... I'm glad I ordered only a pulled pork sandwich and not ribs! Had I ordered ribs and been stuck with the sour vinegar-based potion available here, I would have been even more annoyed than I was with having to use ketchup on my pulled pork sandwich to make it not so dry. As a few other reviews have commented, the meat here can be dry. Maybe this is how they do it in the Carolinas... I'm glad it's limited to the Carolinas! Next time I'm in a BBQ restaurant here in NC I'll be sure to ask if any real sauce is available. I asked here at Smithsfield's and was told "no, I'm sorry". Fair enuff... I won't be back... sorry. Alternatively, when your in FL and GA, check out Sonny's BBQ....
