Very disappointed! I’d been meaning to try this place for a while now and when my mom came to visit we decided to finally go. We inquired about the sourdough and they said they make it fresh daily and it looked very good. We got a loaf, then asked what they’d recommend for sandwiches as it was supper time and we were both hungry. The girls working there were initially friendly and gave their recommendations. We ordered two sandwiches and two hot drinks (coffee and pumpkin latte) and a pumpkin bread pudding. We were told that they could bring out the food when it’s ready and we also got a buzzer to alert us, so we went outside in the quaint garden to wait. After about 5 minutes or so I went to check on our drinks. I was informed that they forgot to charge me for the sourdough bread and so I paid for that then and the drinks were ready but only one sandwich. I waited for my sandwich for several more minutes and then asked if the other one was coming. Apparently they forgot to put in the order for the my sandwich too!! So I ordered it again and paid the third time and was informed that they will bring my sandwich out right away. Then I brought my mom’s sandwich and our drinks outside. My mom’s coffee was cold and her sandwich was too spicy for her to even eat—her eyes were watering from all the jalapeños and she typically loves spicy food and has a high tolerance for it. My pumpkin latte was good but I was so hungry so after waiting ~15 more minutes, I went to check on my sandwich as it was still not brought out. I went inside to inquire and my sandwich was waiting there on the countertop where they bring the food out! I ate my sandwich outside and the turkey seemed a bit pinkish but maybe it was smoked—the cheese, bacon and bread on it were good but the avocado and tomato were bad/soggy. By this time people were trickling in to the place / suite next to the cafe and smoking cigarettes outside. My mom and I decided to bring the pumpkin bread pudding home with us so as to not activate my asthma from the second hand smoke. Then we both ended up with stomach aches on the way back :( When I reached home and eventually had some of the bread pudding, it was very moist and great texture but tasted very bland and I could not taste any pumpkin or even the apple or fall spices. I’m now writing this unable to sleep because of the GI trouble the food gave me. Very sad this was our experience as it is such a cute and nicely decorated place but the service and food fell severely short. Then the owner’s response essentially blamed us as the customers for our poor experience after spending about $50 at their cafe! Unprofessional and overrated. We will...
Read moreIf you read any of my previous post, you will know I am not a coffee drinker. However, my wife LOVES coffee and I am the sweet tooth in the family. Well, Meadowlark has both and even more. The coffee according to my wife is just the best. They have a variety of brews, but the cold brew is the BEST Option. To go with their delicious coffee is an amazing selection of homemade (made in house) pastries. Today we ( or should I say I) sampled the chocolate chip cookie and Lemon/Blueberry Scone. They both were so delicious that I forgot to save my wife even one crumb. But knowing we will go back again, she can order her own next time.
We also tried one of their homemade soups today and it too was awesome. They made a spicy pork kimchi soup that was out of this world. So for me, this place has checked off all the boxes for an amazing coffee and bakery, plus !! However, whats a great coffee/bakery without atmosphere. If you are looking to enjoy a great cup of coffee, pastries or some warm soups, stop on over...
Read moreI stumbled upon this bakery taking a friend to Empire Barber Studio which is next door. This is a great spot. It’s tucked away, not obvious and hopefully a lot of people already know about it and if not hopefully this will help. The bakery has an outside area you can sit and eat/drink which is cozy and private. (Not ur average chain type coffee place..SB) 😉 Inside the bakery is warm and welcoming. The atmosphere and people that work there are awesome. I was not sure what to order so I went on the barista’s suggestion Cold Brew Vietnamese which we added mocha and raspberry syrup. He uses sweetened condensed milk which makes it creamy and sweet. It was delicious. I have never given a review on a bathroom…. I have to say this was the coolest one I’ve seen in a very long time , also very clean! I could have stayed in there longer to look at everything. Even the music was good…all around good vibe! I will definitely go back to try some pastries and new drinks. Thank you...
