If you’re looking for an authentic, no-frills Punjabi dining experience, look no further than Sandhu Dhaba. This hidden gem captures the essence of homemade North Indian food, serving up flavors that feel like they came straight from a family kitchen. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warmth and hospitality of the staff, who treated every guest with genuine care and courtesy.
The food itself was nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the roti, which arrived fresh off the tawa, generously coated in butter—soft, flaky, and packed with rustic flavor. The dal makhani was rich, creamy, and slow-cooked to perfection, delivering that deep, comforting taste only a truly well-prepared dal can achieve. The aloo gobi was another standout—perfectly spiced, with tender potatoes and cauliflower soaking up the fragrant masala. Every bite transported me to the roadside dhabas of india where simple ingredients are transformed into something extraordinary.
And then there was the tea—absolutely superb! The perfect blend of spices and milk, it was the kind of chai that makes you want to sit back, relax, and savor every sip. The meal not only hit all the right notes in terms of taste and quality but also offered incredible value.
This spot has now become a must-stop on my drives to LA. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or just a quick chai break, Sandhu Dhaba delivers an experience that feels both nostalgic and incredibly satisfying. If you appreciate authentic Punjabi flavors, generous portions, and warm hospitality, this place is definitely...
Read moreDON’T MISS IT! We’re never inclined to try Indian food on road trips and definitely not at such places but we did and we’re so glad we did! We’re from the Bay Area so you would think that we got pretty awesome food there too but this was different. The freshness of everything was incomparable. We tried the following: Dahi Gol Gappa - I have never eaten such fresh crispy pani puri. Not anywhere in Bay Area Mix Paratha - Very tasty Garlic Naan - Not on the menu but they gave us some and it was so good Butter Chicken - Not oily, not heavy. Just the right kind for a driving trip Samosa - THIS WAS THE BOMB. The masala was so so tasty with the fresh aloo, small peas and a lot of earthy cumin. The exterior was so fresh and crispy, you knew they’d made it to order There were tables and chairs to use. Limited plastic ware and paper napkins though. Please do yourself a favor and stop by here. So glad that these dhabas are opening for more savory...
Read moreHow surprising to find excellent Indian food from a trailer in a town that is mostly junk fast food. And it wasn't just Indian, but Punjabi. I've eaten Indian food many times and it was as at least as tasty as any expensive sit-down restaurant. My son and I stayed in town for a race at Buttonwillow. We ate here for two of the three nights we were in town. We had butter chicken, chicken curry, samosas, naan, and rice. Each was excellent. One thing about it was not authentic, the food was spiced for the American palate, which was mild enough for most while still packing a bit of heat. I would say that even if you are new to Indian food this is probably the best food in town. If you love Indian, this is as good as you'd get anywhere in the US. My lower atmosphere rating was based on the fact that it was a food truck, in the KOA parking lot, in Lost Hills in September. It was hot and dusty. Hardly...
