I cannot say enough good about this place. I went here for lunch my first night in NJ and I got a Sloppy Joe. Where I come from, its a ground beef schlop on a bun, NJ does this proper and blew my mind. We touched down in the afternoon, about 4 pm, starving after a 6 hour drive. We were hungry, this spot came with high praise from our local friends, and after a quick car unpack, we were locked in. We called in the food, for 4 people by the way, and we're told 5 minutes. Five. That is the fastest I've ever heard from a food joint.... To pickup....ever.
We got there, and my buddy had told me it was likely already bagged and ready. I smelled the baked goods from outside. Friend told me it was all done fresh in house, every day, from scratch. I was shrugging and skeptical until I walked in. Stunned. Clean little spot, food smelled amazing, ingredients neatly lining the shelves, baked goods on display, check check check. The lady asking us for our order was quick efficient to the point. Our food was done. The guy behind the kitchen is an absolute unit. My friend told me it's a one guy show. Gives back to the community all that. Huge bonus in my book. They even had a good challenge. (I'll be ready next time) got our food and head home, when I opened that box let me tell you I was shocked. Not what I expected at all! My friend knew what I didn't, I was about to have the experience. Sourdough rye triple stacked with corned beef and pastrami, a great dressing, with LOTS of veg. This sandwich was what dreams were made out of. I got through half and fries before I tapped out. That was a new snack for later.
I also went back for breakfast this morning. Ten inch roll with double egg, double cheese, bacon sausage and Taylor ham, salt pepper ketchup. I crushed it faster than any sandwich I have ever eaten.
Compliments to your establishment, and any time I'm that way, I will be eating here. Congratulations on your recent five year anniversary, you deserve every bit of loyal patronage for everything you offer. Truly, new...
Read moreI have been driving past this place for months and never stopped in because I thought it was like a typical "cafe" that you would see in a city, serving afternoon tea and scones, but don't let the name fool you. You don't have to be wearing your Sunday clothes to stop in here and the menu is far from dainty little one bite morsels! Even though everything is freshly made, their menu is more like a traditional deli and they have some of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Including expensive sandwiches in NYC! I'm working my way down the menu but so far there's been nothing I ordered that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Outside tables are a great way to take in the scenery while having lunch with your dog. So the next time you're driving by in your tri-axle coming back from the quarry don't be afraid to stop in because the sign reads "Cafe" and you're in work clothes. Order the Big Boy for breakfast and if you're like me you'll still have enough leftover for lunch! I didn't weigh it but it's got to be...
