In this life when we search for true places, when we seek meaningful conversations in the company of good people it helps to know what direction you want to take in your life. It helps to have a goal, to hold it in your heart like a pure north, and for that… a compass can be crucial. In this case, that Compass happens to be a place. What makes Compass Coffee special, beyond the simple menu and the basic decor is the honesty of what it is. A place where a craft is being pursued by people who believe in what they are doing. That my friends, is an aroma that has permeated the very molecular structure of the building! it will never be same. The smell of honest well roasted coffee is deep and welcoming as you approach their door and the staff was kind and patient, which is an added treasure to a coffee that was perfect. There is an honesty about a place that was created first to roast and craft and then evolved later into customer service instead of the other way around. It was an accident. The way crystals grow in the ground by accident or the wind shapes beautiful rocks formations in the desert. Because out there on Saint John’s, it really is kind of a desert and they really do need something special. An oasis, a port in the storm, a familiar door, a welcoming face, because it’s bleak out there. And a place to stop and sit and talk and tell stories and a have a cup of coffee is transformative, not only for the participants, but for the community.

Coffee shop reviews: Just a girl helping out other coffee shop lovers find a good shop to visit. Just did a review for the other location in main st downtown Vancouver. This shop is bar far the best one and just overall a 10/10, been to this location since they removed the one in Portland( coolest one). Always friendly baristas and great service! The vibes in here are calm and I like how it doesn’t get over crowded or overwhelmed like the main st shop. I’m trying to gate keeps this one but my coffee connoisseur deserve to know about this location. I highly recommend this one, the only downside is that when entering this location you have to be careful because of incoming traffic and there no middle lane to wait in while cars are passing by.

Newly updated addition to the best coffee roaster near Hazel Del, and they always have freshly roasted beans to try. I always get espresso with a compliment pallet cleanser. It’s so nice to have the big garage door open. Lots more seating available now too for larger parties. There’s some plugs to charge your computer and the music/vibe is always nice too.

Needed a place to study for a few hours.

Positives: Very friendly staff, and high quality beverages (my chai was great, not too sweet) and snacks. Was able to hang out for several hours and not feel like I was invading. My tablet was having a hard time getting online, so I asked the staff to reset the router. There was obviously some frustration with technology, but eventually I was able to get online with a decent connection.

Negatives: It's a little hole in the wall, reformed industrial type building. I would really like couches, with tables more accessible for holding books and papers while reading things. A little on the expensive side, but perfectly reasonable for the quality offered. Was also just coffee and scones; I didn't see anything I would consider "food."

I would come back here to study. Not the most comfortable, but quality food and friendly service goes a...

Not only does Compass have the best coffee in town, they go out of their way to help you in any way they can. Example: I always buy my espresso beans from them and grind them myself, however, my grinder is out of commission so I had them grind for me, risky since all espresso machines respond differently to different roasting. It was perfect. Came back the next time for the same, different barista, I didn't communicate that it was for espresso, ended up being to coarse, my fault. I returned, not knowing if the coffee could be reground, it could not. Oh well, my fault as I said. The barista said he would buy my coffee himself! For his own use, gave me a new bag of beans, ground perfectly again. Hazel Dell location.Top notch, best...
