We ate at Conduit Road last night, it was, overall, a very good experience. They are still in the “soft opening” stage and there are a few bugs to work out but it was a very positive visit. A glaring glitch was they had no drink menu yet. What did they serve? How was their liquor selection? We had no clue nor did the server. We had a glass of the house Cote du Rhone, not bad. We had the Pulled Pork Nachos, the Fish and Chips and the Short Ribs. All were very good, the Fish and the Short Ribs were borderline excellent! The Nachos were a bit “busy”, the presentation kinda messy but all the components were quite good. Not sure how you can avoid a loaded platter of Nachos being “busy”, so it goes with the territory, I guess. Regardless, the bits were quite good, the pork tasty and juicy, the cheese slightly crispy on the edges, a nice touch. There were hunks of Avocado sprinkled on top and a few pieces showed minor browning, like they scooped without checking both sides of the pieces. Not excessive but noticeable. The Fish my partner ordered was “near perfect”, the breading light with just the right amount of crunch, the fish still quite moist. A winner! The chips were very good but standard thick “steak fries”. No complaints but typical. The Short Ribs were boneless and generous. Very good. Served with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. I thought the potatoes were a bit bland and there were not quite enough of them to suit me, good, but not great. The Short Ribs, two generous portions, on the other hand, were very good indeed. Braised in a beer bath that was not too powerful, very flavorful, very tender, meat cooked “just right”. It could have been served with a bit more juice, I ran out of both jus and potatoes before the first rib was gone. A minor complaint because the ribs were really good. We had to ask for Salt and Pepper. A minor glitch. Most things needed no salt but I did pepper-up my potatoes a bit. The check came with a QR code for payment, a really progressive feature, a winner in my book. Payment was direct, did not force an app download, something I would not have liked. It worked great with Apple Pay, handy. Service was really good, except for that bar selection thing… not the wait staff’s fault. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. Just right. The room was neat, clean, the design was well done, lots of room in the dining area, moreover it seemed they paid attention to the ambient sound experience. Walk into the dining area and the hustle and bustle of the bar disappeared. Nice. It was peaceful and comfortable. So overall? An -A for us, and that’s pretty good indeed. We’ll be...

My wife and I have lived in this neighborhood for more than 20 years, and during that time we’ve seen many restaurants come and go at this very spot. Honestly, that’s why we were a little hesitant to try it again—Washington, D.C. has so many great dining options, why take a chance on another place that might not last?
Well, I’m happy to say Conduit Road on MacArthur Boulevard is here to stay.
From the moment we walked in, we felt the welcoming atmosphere. The music was fantastic—live, local, and just the right vibe for a relaxing evening. The food was even better. Every dish was flavorful and clearly made with care. While the service wasn’t perfect, it gave us time to slow down, sip our drinks, and really enjoy the night together. Isn’t that what dining out should be about?
I had two excellent local beers on tap, and my wife enjoyed a lovely glass of wine. Between the friendly environment, the great drinks, the music, and the quality food, it checked every box.
This is the kind of neighborhood spot you want to see succeed. We’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend others make this a go-to...
Read moreReally was excited when this place was opening up in the neighborhood. We have been there a handful of times. Unfortunately the experience has declined with each visit. The food quality has declined. We used to get wings and beers each time. Went from 10 quality wings down to 6 unappealing and tasteless wings but all at the same original price of $14. Service is not efficient either. We have slowly been turned off by the experiences which is really a shame. Haven't gone back in over a month and notvsure if we will again, even though it's walking distance from our home. I really hope they are successful, but things need really change for this to happen. Not hating on the place and was very conflicted writing this review as I want them to do well. Just being honest with our...
