I haven't ever posted a review before but felt it was necessary. I would highly recommend not frequenting this restaurant. The owners don't care about their customers. I ordered multiple items including chicken katsu and did not get the sauce. I called the restaurant to let them know so I could come down and pick some up, and somebody answered the phone and then hung up. I drove down to the restaurant and they were closed. Another customer was standing outside trying to get help when I got there because he had the entirely wrong order. I called the next day and requested another order of the katsu with the sauce. The chicken for me is no good without the sauce. I also like to eat it fresh - reheated chicken katsu is no good. They wanted to charge me for the replacement order. When I complained, they offered to take off 50%. I told them that unless they were interested in providing the order for free, I wasn't interested in returning to the restaurant. I tried three different times to reach out to the owner leaving two messages. She made no effort to call me back. My thought is that if she can't even call me back when I order approximately $100 to $200 a month of food from her, then I guess she doesn't need my business. I don't like to frequent businesses that don't have any interest in keeping their customers happy. We've been going to Nori Presto just up the hill and...
Read moreI hate to leave this review. We have been coming to Kami for about 8 years now. I believe when we first started coming, it was staffed by the owners. I'm not sure if ownership changed at some point, but the quality of the food has gone down dramatically, while the prices have almost doubled. This is the 3rd time in a row, over the course of about a year and a half I have ordered the Chicken Katsu to go, and received the worst looking and tasting plate of Katsu I have ever seen in my life. The last few times it also gave me an upset stomach. I really should have taken a picture like my wife suggested but I just didn't care enough to do so. This was the final straw.
The chicken was very stringy, dry, over-cooked, unevenly cut and portioned, breading everywhere, and looked like it had been thrown in the box from across the room.
My father was in town and I was excited for him to try, what used to be, our favorite teriyaki place. He rated it a 2/10. I had to agree. For over 70 dollars for 4 plates of take out food, the quality should be worlds better. We won't be returning. Best of luck on getting back to your old ways. And if the stories are true about how you treat your employees, you should be ashamed...
Read moreI have, sadly eaten my last order of spicy teriyaki chicken from Kami teriyaki. Two years ago I started eating their teriyaki and it was the best I'd ever had. I'm a 30 year veteran chef and teriyaki is something I actively pursue. As time has progressed, the product has changed and is not what it once was. The last time I ordered the spicy chicken it was so spicy that I couldn't finish it. I ordered extra sauce as the product has changed so much that I now have to order it that way to get what I used to get. I called them and left a message to speak with management, just to politely ask as an industry colleague, what has happened. Haven't heard back. Then three days later, emailed them to ask if perhaps they could get back to me. I would refuse a freebie, as I understand that inconsistency is sometimes an issue with new help. That was three days ago. Why even have a "contact us" page?! Too bad. They were once my favorite. One thing I can't abide as someone who ate there 20 to 30 times a year is...
