Excellent baked goods! We get stollen each Christmas, it’s a 30+ year tradition in our family. Several years ago, our favorite bakery we ordered our stollen from closed. Since then, we have tried various bakeries. Unfortunately, none have been as good…until now. Ravenhook Bakehouse stollen is the BEST we have had. It has outstanding texture and the amount of fruit is perfect. The figs were a nice surprise. Additionally, we also had the pecan bars, as well as iced Christmas and gingerbread men cookies They, too, were delicious. The pecan bars crust had the buttery goodness you want from a pecan bar, but weren’t greasy as some can be. The pecan filling was perfect. The gingerbread cookie had the amount of ginger you look for in this classic holiday treat. The iced Christmas cookies were classic in the best way. We placed our Christmas treats order online and picked them up at the DuPont Circle Farmers Market - it was so easy. Additionally, Ravenhook has friendly customer service. I called with a few questions and the baker was extremely helpful. We look forward to sampling more Ravenhook baked...
Read moreI probably should have provided a review several years ago when I first "experienced" the yumminess of Ravenhook Bakehouse breads! Never too late, right? Ravenhook consistently sets up at the Mosaic District Farmer's Market in Merrifield, on Sundays. I have tried the sourdough, olive, and asiago cheese loaves; I've also purchased the sliced multi-grain bread - ALL, wonderfully fresh and delicious! The ability to buy half-loaves allows you to try something new or get several different kinds without overbuying/wasting. I once purchased jam called "Traffic Jam", made from "end of season" leftover berries and fruit - it was AWESOME! Come to find out, there is a family connection between the jam maker (located in Austin, TX) and Ravenhook master baker! If you happen to see the jam - I highly recommend grabbing it as I don't think they last long! Can't "rave" enough about Ravenhook...
Read moreRavenhook Bakehouse had a stand at the local farmer's market this weekend, and I left with a loaf of sourdough olive bread and a small bag of snickerdoodle cookies. The snickerdoodle cookies were so tasty they barely survived until lunch, and I snacked on the olive bread throughout the day and into the following day. For two days now, all of my friends have had to suffer through me raving about how delightful the olive bread is. Delicious, delicious olive bread. It's all gone now, because I ate the...
