Gallaudet University — Attraction in Washington

The administration is absolutely awful and unresponsive as well as irresponsible. This past summer, Summer 2023, I participated in an art exhibition for Deaf, Hard of Hearing BIPOC artists in Washington DC at Gallaudet University. The event was sponsored by the school. There they displayed my "Van Gogh" collection. The exhibition took place from July to September. By the end of September, they reached out to confirm my address to ship back the outfits. By late October, I reached out to them asking when I can expect the package, they said it was delivered. I never received the package. I let them know this and began asking for the tracking number and carrier information. They told me they had no idea or information on the shipment. They said they didn't know who they shipped with nor did they have the tracking number. This had been going back and forth weeks before I got extremely frustrated and reached out to the office of president. After I reached out to the President's office, the person whom I had been corresponding with, Elvia (the person who had been gaslighting me), did two things. First, she offered $3000 in compensation and then, magically, showed me another tracking information...I headed over to the post office to ask about it. They said it was delivered, never received it, I told them. They said I could file a claim since it's insured for $100. The actual value of the garments is well over $3,000. I contacted Elvia again, I took notice that the first tracking information she gave me did not have an apartment number on it and pointed it out to her. A few days later, she sent me a new tracking info with another magical information on it; it was an apartment just above mine. I went up there a few times, no one is ever opening the door. At this point, I began feeling extremely frustrated and distressed. The offering of the compensation never materialized ( as of this wring,...

Great deaf community... NOT... repeat... NOT the educational school, and that includes master level... If you're looking for a good education, look somewhere else. If you're looking for social life, then this is the place. They party every thursdays and every weekends. Their service for enrollment is terrible, and their security service is so weak such as lack of security video, technology, and services. There's no way to protect yourself if you're innocent or not, even if you're innocent you get penalty for being reported against you even without proof or anything. There was no support system in this campus and always confused. Great support for international students, but not for american students. I graduated as undergrad at different university, and very supportive people, educational beneficial and challenged. I graduated as master in May 2016, during that time new Gallaudet president was replaced, I don't know if she can make differences and I doubt there will be any improvement for next 5 years. I regret for coming here to take my master and did not get any good job because of gallaudet's reputation reflect against my job hunting. For deaf person who is interested in Gallaudet, and looking for social, this is the place. If you're looking for educational school, this is NOT the place even for master level. If you're interpreter, or goal to become an interpreter, this is good place, and they do have good program for specific interpreting program. Hope this information helps! Good luck...

It excellent for international deaf students. They are of course deaf friendly. They got high security and police, that make me feel safer. Staff very friendly , must to have permit to park there. Do have visitor park for short term and you must stop by office to ask where to park visitor spot or get permit or you will get cited pretty expensive so be beware. They have dorms for student to sleep and of course have caferina for students to eat. Galladuent are exllecent choices for deaf students. They got good educations. Required use American sign language to commutation...
