The 884 Pub — Restaurant in Washington

I was excited to try this place based on reviews, but sorely disappointed. The waitress was friendly, but super inattentive. There were only 3 other dudes at the bar and we chose to sit at a table, so this was not a problem of being too busy. She just forgot about us.

I had to flag her over to take our drink orders, I had to ask her to bring menus, I had to ask her to come take our food order, then she never once returned to refill our water or offer me another beer, which I definitely wanted. Then I had to walk my leftovers to the bar and ask for a box and a check. The tip reflected the (lack of) service, which I hate doing.

I am sorry, but friendly smiles are not enough to be good at service. Just basic attention is needed and the basics were sorely lacking here.

The good news is the Cubano pizza was fantastic, even if slightly under baked. Amazing flavors.

We will likely return some day because service staff comes and goes and the pizza was delicious enough, but it will take a while to forget this below...

This place straight up had "Cheers" vibes! "Where everybody knows your name" Rode the motorcycle there today and watching the interaction between the bartenders/owner/customers was amazing. As people walked in the door, everyone was welcomed as if they were old friends! Didn't have the food but the pours were fair/generous and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. It was our first time visiting since it changed ownership from the National but we will definitely be making this a regular place on our adventures. I rarely give reviews and I almost didn’t want to give a review on this place just because I wanted to keep it a lil secret for myself but HOLY, these guys deserve it. My friend and I visited this pub on a Sunday because all other pubs with pool tables were way too packed.. however, 844 pub allowed us to shoot pool for FREE on Sunday and also had some of the best tasting bar food around. We got wings and the meat lovers pizza and all I can say is that I’m already planning to go back next weekend. Excellent service, excellent drinks, not over crowded.. my type of place… all 5...
