Food was decent overall(small portions and not everything is cooked well). I will not recommend the kids menu. Definitely not the kids burger with fries as overcooked and the fries were (our little one must have have gotten the left over small ones) meh. The apple starter along with sourdough bread were good (the butter was too salty for my taste). Entrees: quail, oysters (both small plates) and scallops with Kohlrabi were good. For dessert the honey ice cream (new), carrot cheesecake (decent) and the latte was on point. Service was decent. They weren’t that busy but the staff was slow to pick up dirty plates, refill water and grab cheque. Not a child friendly experience but most restaurants in the U.S. are.

They were so friendly and professional. Setting is nice and place looks so pretty. Food was good but not great, but I don’t think this is kind of a place you come for food. Lunch menu options are limited which I like since it is easier to pick. Overall it was such a pleasant experience and I’d love to go back.

We had lunch here and the entire experience was fabulous. Food was delicious, the decor in the garden room was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and prompt.

First, as to my culinary experience at the Mayflower Inn's Garden Room. Not particularly good with none of the offerings on the tasting menu particularly creative, tasty or memorable (let alone sublime), especially given the up to $300 per person charge (with wine pairing). Instead, for much better food at a much better value, try the tasting menus at either Arethusa al Tavolo in Bantam or Materia Retaurant in Litchfield..

Then there's management's concern for their customers at this "Auberge Resorts Collection." Fuhgedaboutit, there isn't any. When they double-charged me for my ($1000, 3 person) meal and I complained about that double-charge, it took two complaints, and two billing cycles, for them to finally correct their supposedly innocent error. And though I was promised, on my first complaint, that if the error was their fault, they would provide an additional credi to my account, they didn't. And when I sought to hold them to that promise, they ignored me. So, beware, if you've got an issue with the service at this "Auberge Resorts Collection", don't expect for them to even respond let alone treat you with any kind of respect. Instead, frankly, for them, it's clearly all about the benjamins.

I edit my review to respond to the Inn's response to my original review. I guess it's better to get a canned response rather than no reponse at all, as was the case with the 2 letters of complaint I sent directly to the Inn. Presumably, once my criticism went public, it was time to pull out the pr apologia. Well, not accepted. As for the culinary part of my review, let me suggest a "taste off" between the Garden Room's chef and those of the 2 restaurants I mentioned in my review (Tavolo and Materia with CT thrown in for good measure). If interested, let me know and I'd be happy to approach the managers of all 3 and see if we also can't gin up some public...

Unfortunately for my wife and I, we ate at the Mayflower Restaurant in Washington CT last night. We decided to get a simple meal, and ordered a hamburger with fries and I additionally ordered a draft beer while my wife had water. We asked our waitress for the burgers to be cooked medium and assumed that was a simple request, especially at what is portrayed as a higher end Restaurant. My draft beer was served in a 12 oz glass which in most other establishments, comes in a 16 oz glass. When we received our hamburgers, I was surprised to see how small they were, and the order of fries that came with them was one of the smallest size servings I have ever seen. Each hamburger order was 30.00 which was also the highest price I have ever paid for a burger and fries. Even though we ordered them to be cooked medium, my wife's was red and dripping blood. We showed this to the waitress and she said it was because of the lighting in the area where we were seated, and that the burger was fine and as ordered. The waitress offered to return it to the kitchen, but we decided to just take it to go, pay our bill, and leave. Our bill for food, tax and tip came to 90.00. That's $90.00 for 2 small burgers ...1 of which wasnt cooked correctly, with a handful of fries and 1 12 oz beer. CRAZY. Unless you have money to waist on mediocre food at best, I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I would...

We have been coming to your restaurant for years…dinner, lunch etc…....Today for our lunch, I asked for a slice of raw red onion with my $32.00 burger……may I also say that I had 3 glasses of a $31.00 Chablis so this is not about the price of the burger …….

I was told after our wonderful bartender went to the kitchen to be sure that she could do that 🤷🏾‍♀️… she then told me that she could not, you make no exceptions to the menu…. No omissions, no add ons…. Hmmmm….. She managed to snag me a ramekin of diced onions which made me more confused seeing that the onions come whole…. Very disappointing! We actually live an hour away and have for many years been making your establishment a destination for us…… this will be changing…. Monica Yazbak P.S to the GM…. Get your kitchen in line……

Please do not respond to me with an automated answer…..we’ve been coming to you for too long, not...
