The New White Steamer — Restaurant in Washington

A great piece of Washington Indiana history. Their biscuits and gravy is amazing, along with the rest of their breakfast menu. When it comes to hamburgers or cheeseburgers there's nowhere else that I've ever had that compares. Whatever they do with the meat is simply amazing. It's probably the combination of that and being cooked right there fresh on the flat top grill with a warm bun and the onions that make them just incredible. The Steamer is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in town. The staff is always friendly and accommodating making sure that your experience in the restaurant is as good as possible. They also never make mistakes on our call in orders, which we all know is very rare for a restaurant. They are also not skimpy with the gravy on the biscuits, condiments etcetera. I'd recommend this establishment to anybody, I think literally anyone could find something there they would enjoy, I personally haven't tried the whole menu, but I'm confident that if it wasn't good, it wouldn't be on their menu. We have a family tradition of going to the White Steamer when we get together for the holidays. My great uncle used to grill the burgers a long time ago. My grandma says the bar stools, floors, and lots of other things in the restaurant are the originals. The burgers are very good and the shakes are milky (aka the real thing.) You can also get a sack of burgers to go (they're even better leftover.) If you want to get to know Indiana this is the place to do it. I called in for a 6 pack to go.. I got there a few minutes later than what they said.. it wasn't ready.. and that was okay, but no one asked me why I was there, even though several people looked at me sitting there with money in my hand. One lady finally did acknowledge me and went to see if my order was up.. it wasn't, but she walked past me and didn't tell me anything.. this went on for several minutes..
