WARNING!!!! OLD RUSTY STAPLE FOUND IN FOOD!!!!
On January 9, 2023 I ordered a small shrimp lo mein and two small shrimp fried rice. My friend had a shrimp fried rice and I had the shrimp lo mein and fried rice. I mixed a little bit of each on a plate added a packet of soy sauce and put a few forks full in my mouth when I noticed an old rusty staple in my mouth mixed in the rice and lo mein. I immediately contacted Twin Dragon and was told by the staff to come in for a full refund or a new order of the same items. I agreed to a full refund considering the length of time I’ve been a customer. I’ve been a customer, including family and friends of Twin Dragon for over forty years. When I arrived, I was told by staff, lady and man that the original order taker had gone for the day and to receive a refund I would need to bring the food back. Luckily, I kept the food, but it was a big inconvenience because I had to go back home to retrieve the food so I decided to wait until the next day. When I returned with day old food and receipt the lady threw the food on the counter and smashed it repeatedly with her bare hands. Thankfully, the male staff refunded me. If I had caught the footage of the lady staff it would surprise anyone who would expect otherwise. Her response is indicative of their level of respect and service in our neighborhoods. God only knows what was done with the returned food. This is the first and only low-quality service I’ve experienced at Twin Dragon. The low-quality and underline disrespectful attitude toward me or anyone else should not be accepted from the staff. Twin Dragon’s staff can use some training in the areas of social awareness and how to speak to people, especially customers. Examples, they could slow down when receiving orders from customers, say thank you after receiving business, and a simple acknowledgement of regular customers. They have no warm people skills. The original owners not only lived in our local neighborhood (Petworth) but they went to our Public Schools as well, Rudolph Elementary, Rabaut Junior High, and Calvin Coolidge Senor High School. The original owners showed their respect and appreciation and was a part of the community. A special shout out and thankfulness to the original owners, namely Janet! Has Twin Dragon given back to our community? Should we set the bar in our communities by showing: No respect...
Read moreRestaurant was clean. I ordered beef with broccoli. Food was not good. I have heard good and bad things about this place... that their parents who ran this place actually was the real heroes! Food was always delicious, but I decided to give this place a try anyway. The gentleman at the front with the glasses taken my order was not friendly at all. He didn't even seem like he wanted to be there. Let him know when it needs to be in his face asking him for an order. The Community was very nice. That was there. They are very supportive even though the people that worked there don't seem very friendly… At all for any reasons lol… The food taste funny the beef was a little chewy. Did not taste like beef respectfully. Broccoli was OK but there was so much broccoli. There were only maybe three pieces of beef no exaggeration. I don't think I would be visiting this place again. I say think because there doesn't seem to be many carryout in the area that has more than Four stars. But if they continue up this behavior with their food and service, I think they will fall in stars as well. I wanted to try their eggroll, but there was such mixed reviews that I'm happy I decided to pass after tasting their beef and broccoli. Which by the way was very expensive for a small with white rice it was $11… It didn't come with anything no soda no soup no egg roll no spring roll. No nothing just a little teeny dish with a big thing of rice which the rice seem to be more than the beef and broccoli. 11 bucks I feel was not worth it. As this dish just...
Read moreTwin Dragon is a generations old, classic DC CarryOut. It is a hole in the wall In a little storefront behind a gas station and between an early learning center, laundromat, and, I think, a liquor store. Even pre-pandemic there was no dining in.
It is different from the cookie-cutter carryouts that have proliferated around DC and all seem to serve the same pre-made frozen food that they fry up. Many dishes here are obviously made from scratch, something I first discovered when I could easily identify the different meats in the combo fried rice years ago. They are well known for their egg rolls here, which seem like an Asian take on a chimichanga and are made fresh, or as fresh as a deep fried item can be called fresh. A quick Google or Yelp search will get you a plethora of Gatorade bottle sizes egg rolls. They are a meal unto themselves and reheat well; however, if you are not a fan of pepper avoid them.
We have also enjoyed the egg foo young, sweet and sour shrimp, sesame chicken, and dumplings. This is a cool multi-generational family run business, but it still a carryout serving greasy food. Worth a try, make sure you order an extra egg...
