Varsity Pizza McKenna — Restaurant in Washington

Updating old review. Food/service/and atmosphere use to be amazing but over the last year and a half it seems to have dulled. Quality of food is hit or miss depending on who’s working. For all the price increases I would expect good food. My wings have been messed up EVERY time I’ve ordered, the Asian sweet heat is my fav and like lasts nights order it was messed up. It had the lemon pepper on them, but this time they didn’t fix it rather they threw the Asian sauce over the top to cover up the mistake and it made them taste awful and the mouths full of pepper chunks was too much. Huge waist of $$ but my dog loved them. Last couple times I’ve ordered grinders the fillings have been subpar not sure but what’s going on but twice now the buffalo chicken had 3-5 tiny pieces of chicken to the whole sandwich and no sauce, how do you miss the buffalo sauce on a buffalo sandwich???? basically I paid $9+ for a loaf of bread. Pizzas can be good but the toppings are minimal. And again it depends on who’s working. A simple cheese pizza recently ordered had bare spaces of dough not even sauce and cheese didn’t go to the crust there was a solid inch of bare dough between crust and were the cheese began. My family went from eating here weekly (no joke) to eating here...

Wish I could say the same with five stars. We are new to the area and I have wanted to try this place out for some time. I ordered the ribs, which took time to prepare. I then ordered a pizza seeing the 18 inch was the same price as the 17, I went for it. It was called a take and go. Back home a take and go just meant it was already prepared and ready to go ( cooked). Long story short they hand me this uncooked pizza. I stated I didn't know that was how it was prepared. The lady said , the directions are on the pizza! I again said ok, but I really didn't know it was like this . She then walked off. Nobody explained this to me and I didn't read it anywhere. I gave four out of five stars because while I love the pizza....it tastes amazing, but it seems like when we order for delivery it’s a bother for them. When I ask for delivery they instantly say it’s a long wait... for instance, they says it’s an hour and a half wait, but we never wait past an hour. I’m not complaining but it’s compounded with them refusing to deliver when there is too much traffic in town. That’s happened twice. One time we called an hour before closing and they said they wouldn’t deliver to us because it was too close to the end of business. The delivery drivers are always very friendly. It’s the gals that take the orders that come off as if we are a bother. If their pizza wasn’t so amazing I would probably take my business somewhere else.
