Yard Bird LLC — Restaurant in Waskom

Being on the road constantly I'm always looking for new places to dive dine. Some are hits while others are misses. Yard Bard was definitely a HOME-RUN!!! Definitely not what I was expecting sitting by a test area on the intestate.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was immediately given a drink. (Ordered a coke sadly. Wish I'd thought to try an iced mocha!)

After looking over the menu and having the days special recommended to me by the waiter, I decided on the special. And I'm very glad I did.

The special was a ribeye (16oz I believe) with two sides and bread. I opted for corn and a side salad. The corn was good and the side salad was great. The side salad was made with spring mix instead of the usual lettuce that most places serve.

Now let's talk about that ribeye. OMG!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!! I'm a medium rare type of guy. Most places significantly overcook their meat. Not here. It was PERFECT! Tasted great with amazing seasonings. Nothing like a great tasting thick and juicy steak. I cannot say enough good about this. Lol. About half way through my meal I was asked if I would need a box to go. I did not. I finished every last bite of that delicious meal!

Will I be back? ABSOLUTELY!!! And I recommend you go try 'em out, too.

Update 11/3/23 Had the same steak today and it was cooked to the same perfection as last time. This guy KNOWS...

I am an over the road truck driver that doesn’t eat out a lot, I have a hand full of places that I will take my time to go to. The food here is really good! I’ve been here several times and love the food, and I also tell many drivers about this place because of the convenience and quality of food. I only want the steak and shrimp, but the last two times I’ve been here I was told they only serve the steak till 12. Then I went out of route a few weeks later and was told they only serve that on Fridays and Saturdays, I’m only one person so I know it won’t make any difference. But if that’s the only meal I want from this restaurant and am unable to get it with always being turnt away because of this and that reason, being that I usually drive way out of the way just to get here, regrettably, I’ll just have to stop going here especially since I couldn’t have what I went for....

Second rest stop after crossing the Texas border from Louisiana. The first was closed but we needed a break, plus it was raining, we were hungry, and our dog needed a walk. Pulling a small trailer so parked with the big boy semi trucks. Wife and dog decided they didn't want to get wet but I needed to go, so off I went. Spotted the little cafe with an open sign and decided to stop on the way back for a quick cup of coffee. Nice ladies in the rest stop said the cafe had good food and it was Hamburger Monday, so a burger and chips for $6. Heck yea, so I stopped in, quick order and quick delivery and great food. Burgers were big, buns were fresh, price was great. They had hats and tee shirts but no stickers - I'm a big sticker fan. Definitely...
