Ann's Deli — Restaurant in Waterbury

First off, the rolls/grinders are AMAZING!! But my problem is the employees. The past few times I called in a order the woman was acting like I was bothering her. Then I show up and said I was here to pick up my order and the heavy set brown haired woman behind the counter said something to the customer in line and the customer turned around and looked at me then they both started laughing. I've seen this woman and others behind the counter( excluding the nice young man) but this woman and other have ABSOLUTELY no personality whatsoever. I want to be able to call or just come in and feel like I'm welcomed. Not feel like I'm a bother to them. She's probably part of the family and thinks she can get away with her nasty attitude. But I'm not going to continue tolerating it. If your employees are not happy, then tell them to get a job behind a desk where they don't have to deal face to face with people. You lost me as a customer( and I was coming here 5x a week) and I told a lot of people about Ann's deli. 2 of my friends said they will NEVER return there because of the disrespect and terrible attitudes. And I myself will be telling other people about the attitudes here. UNSANITARY! The owner no longer cares about this business. I worked here. There’s been sooo many times that we were told to just cut the mold off of meat that didn’t sell quickly, mostly corned beef & other unpopular items like liver. If anything gets dropped it goes right back up. I accidentally the big green olives all over the ground & I was throwing them away he came up & yelled at me... put them back in the container, & right back on display. They barely clean. They will just put the floor mats over lettuce & other food that’s dropped from the day before they didn’t clean. They wipe the meat & cheese stand quickly with resedue left all over it. One of the workers there touched her phone & texts while cutting meat, or touches other items, scratches her face then goes right back to touching YOUR food. Not to mention how rude she is along with the other employees. If you ask them to wear gloves they make fun of you as soon as you leave... . This place has lost its glory. If you want a clean, sanitary, & nice environment DO NOT go here....

Good afternoon...On 7/2/22, I had picked up a 1/2 tray of EGGPLANT PARMAGIANA that I pre-ordered (hot, and ready to serve)...It looked delicious until we attempted to cut into it....The first layer was cooked, but the remaining layers were too thick, not breaded or floured, dark black in color, and not edible in any way, shape, or form...It was a total embarassment and humilitating to serve to my guests...We had to toss it in the garbage...We have ordered eggplant grinders in the past, and they were always good....It was a very expensive attempt at what Eggplant Parmiagiana should be..
