I stopped in for lunch and it was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Right off the bat, I asked about the lobster roll and was quoted $30. That price is outrageous, considering most lobster rolls in Connecticut hover in the mid-$20 range. For $30, you’d expect something exceptional, but based on what I ended up receiving, I can’t imagine how they justify charging that.
I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap instead, and what I got was sloppy and careless. The ratio of chicken and lettuce to the oversized tortilla was completely off. The lettuce was drowned in Caesar dressing, dripping everywhere and overpowering everything else. It didn’t feel like a freshly made wrap — it felt like someone just slapped ingredients together without any thought or care. To make things worse, the fries that came with it weren’t even cooked through; they were limp and soggy, as if the kitchen rushed them out without bothering to check quality.
The entire meal gave the impression that nobody in the kitchen knows — or cares — what they’re doing. Either the chef has completely checked out or the staff is so overworked they’ve stopped trying, but either way it’s unacceptable. Running a restaurant means caring about the quality of the food you put in front of people, and here it was obvious that quality was the last thing on...
Read moreI am writing this to warn the public about my experience at The Deck, same owner, different restaurant. On 08/09, I was racially profiled, physically assaulted (I have picture proof of my injuries), harassed, and hate-crimed on their premises. When I returned to request the security footage to document what happened, management refused to release it unless I involved the police.
Considering the discrimination I endured here, why would I feel safe involving law enforcement — especially when the restaurant has already denied me the footage I need to protect myself? Instead of showing basic decency and cooperation, employees hung up on me during follow-up calls. One even told me, “I’m Black, so I doubt what you’re saying is true,” dismissing my experience entirely. (That convo with the ‘black’ employee was between 7pm to 8pm on 08/12/2025)
This is not how any ethical business should treat a customer who has been harmed on their property. If they continue to withhold the footage, I will have no choice but to share my full story publicly across multiple platforms and invite others to do the same. The truth will speak for itself, and it will reflect exactly how badly this corporation handles serious incidents.
If you care about fairness, respect, and safety, think twice before giving your money to this...
Read moreWe recently stopped for lunch at the Dock Restaurant in Niantic, CT. Staff was friendly and very helpful in our decision to order. We went with a hot lobster roll and a scallop platter. placed our order and went to seat ourselves on the large deck overlooking the bay. beautiful views and it was a bright and sunny day, perfect. As we were walking to grab a table we passed the raw bar, that caught my attention. I placed a order for a couple of clams, they were cherrystones, small but tasty, just what I needed. Back to the lobster roll and scallops of which both were very good and plentiful. Overall the Dock was a great stop for us, beautiful scenery, good food nice portion size. The choice of the hot lobster roll went against all of my convictions, but the cold lobster roll was with heavy dose of mayo and celery, to me that's a lobster salad, not my preference with a cold lobster roll. All was good at the Dock Restaurant if you are in that area looking for a nice seafood lunch give it a try. I would give it a 4.5 but it doesn't allow, so instead of the best 5 star rating , it is a 4.5 worth stopping in and enjoy the fresh air, boats in the bay the Niantic River drawbridge and see some...
