Mamma's On Mill — Restaurant in Waterloo

We heard about this from the mother of our niece and stopped in today. We were there around 4:00 PM. My wife got the spicey Italian with extra pickles and jalapenos. I got the turkey club as is, with Provel cheese. Both of these sandwiches went far beyond our expectations. From the bread, I had the grilled sourdough, and my wife had the Fazios white Italian bread to the quality of the meat, to the presentation and care they took in the assembly of the sandwiches. Not to mention the healthy amount of meat on each sandwich. The quality is there. Then to top it off, our sandwiches were ready and my wife went to get them and came back with a warm apple crumb cake which she said we needed and, being the supportive husband I am, agreed with that decision. It was/is very flavorful and would go as far as saying it's homemade. We have been looking for a sandwich shop that isn't a cookie cutter of the rest. This is it. Welcome to sandwich heaven! First time I came to this place was right after work. It sits in the middle of Waterloo’s “Loo” downtown. I got my usual, the regular Italian, and I was more than happy with it! Fresh bread, crisp veggies and a nice amount of layered meats! If anything, would have asked for an extra side of oil and vinegar. Now where this place went really out of control was when I tried their other sandwiches. I got a turkey club which was probably the best club I’ve ever had and their “tri-tip” sandwich which I couldn’t get enough of. Sliced, grilled delicious beefiness. There’s also a very highly rated pizza place right down the street, but I haven’t managed to get there because whenever I am in Waterloo I come straight to Mamas and get 1 or 2 sandwiches! Normally I am a big fan of this place.. however they are constantly out of most their food. I called up beforehand to make sure they had what I wanted.. called up again to order and they put me on hold and never picked the phone up, all while I could hear them chatting in the background. So I try calling back MULTIPLE times. By the time they answer 30 mins later (keep in mind my husband was on his way and had already gotten to the place) they were out of ingredients for what I called up and made sure they had before hand. Waste of my time and money. Foods good, but since they’re constantly out of half of their best choices, we won’t be coming back. One of a restaurants best quality is being prepared. It’s one thing if they occasionally run out but this is an everyday affair....
