My first visit to Grumpy's left me with mixed impressions. While the food portions were generous (the tenderloin, for example, was large than my head), the quality did not meet expectations. The tenderloin was notably dry and tough, and the cheese curds were similarly disappointing—chewy and seemingly pre-prepared, as if held under a heat lamp rather than made fresh to order. Additionally, the soda, although appearing carbonated, tasted stale and flat. Overall, the food lacked distinction and failed to leave a lasting impression, aside from its presentation.
On a positive note, the service was exemplary. The staff were polite, attentive, and ensured that our needs were met promptly without being intrusive. Refills were timely, and there was no delay in requesting or receiving a take-out box.
My main concern, however, was the 3% "administration fee" applied to all bills. This additional charge felt, petty, unnecessary and somewhat unreasonable, as it seems to be an extra cost imposed on customers without clear justification. Considering the overall price of the meal, it struck me as an unwarranted attempt to nickel and dime customers to further increase revenue. What is the fee paying for, and why are customers being mandated to pay for it?
Overall, I would consider going back to give them another go, but I feel hesitant to support an establishment that tacks on unwarranted fees to the check just to make more money off already...
Read moreWe’ve been here multiple times. This last time was a different experience than what we’ve had in the past. We’ve always had a 5 star experience until last night (Saturday about 7pm). We got a table right away. The table was dirty and still had a small tip on it. That should have been our cue to find another table. Our waitress came up, looked confused and then we told her that was there when we got to the table. She took the tip but didn’t clean the table. She asked if we wanted drinks before we got a menu. We had no idea what was offered, so we went very generic. Would have definitely ordered drinks if there was a bar menu. Someone else dropped off our drinks and we had to ask her to wipe off the table. The waitress didn’t get better from there. She was short with us and rude the whole time. The food was ok at best. It’s usually really good food. Waitress didn’t check on our drinks or food at any point. Just saw her to order food and pay the check. Other staff came by to drop off food and we had to ask them for refills. We usually tip 20-25% but we went 15. We would have done less if it was an option on the pad they stick in your face. They were starting to have live music when we left. The band was way too loud. They were speaking profanely into the microphone and there were several tables with small children. We told them that he didn't want it because it wasn't warm. They kept coming up to us asking if there was anything they could do for him self he said no, I don't want it. The bill came and it was still in the bill We asked why and they said because they tried to make it right and they don't just throw food away. I have never been to a restaurant and been charged for that we didn't eat. The main manager got rude and raise his voice to is. We will NEVER go back there or recommend it to anyone.
