I remember a few weeks ago, I sat dazed and confused and mindlessly scrolling through the news on my phone when a story about a new local restaurant opening was in my suggested feed. The story specifically boasted about their burgers being especially scrumptious so I immediately became intrigued as a burger connoisseur. Unluckily though my work schedule matches perfectly their working hours. So I waited, biding my time as I did. Anticipation growing more and more each day until that fateful day arrived where I had an extra day off.
Seeing that schedule I knew exactly what it was time for. It was time for me to finally get to enjoy one of the dishes at this new local restaurant.
I grabbed my things with great haste on this most glorious day and headed off to this new establishment to see if the news story I had read was telling the truth or if it was full of mischief.
I arrive and go in the restaurant and the restaurant is quite full, barely a table to be sat at. I stand away from the line and observe the menu to determine what I’d enjoy. It didn’t take long before I had made my choice though. 1Eye Cheeseburger meal with fries and a Dr Pepper.
The cheeseburger had many customization options so I went with what I’d like best. Ketchup, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato and Jalapeño. After customizing my order I sat down and waiting to hear the beautiful chorus of callouts off all the great orders leaving the kitchen in a timely and delicious smelling manner.
After a bit of a wait, though not too long and quite speedy with how busy they were, I got my order and chose to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather while I ate.
All in all I think I waited 3 weeks to finally be able to get a random day off to go in, and I’ll tell you now. That it was well worth the wait and more. The burger was delectable and nothing short of absolute perfection. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and nice and juicy. Even the little things about it were absolutely astounding. The tomatoes and jalapeños were cut to the exact right thickness to lend their flavors to the burger without overpowering it. The egg, perfectly cooked with a nice runny yolk that bathed the burger and made me feel as if I was possibly a VIP for how much care and love had been put into this burger. This meal is one that without a doubt, I can say without hesitation, the best burger I’ve had in Virginia and a must have for anyone that is able.
The Barn left me utterly and completely impressed by how kind and friendly their staff was and by the quality and love that gets put into their food. If a 10/5 was possible I’d give it because this restaurant every time I’ve had the pleasure to go, I’ve...
Read moreDriving through, on a wim, I saw the name of the restaurant on the map app and just had to see it. I'm so glad I did. It is amazing. It felt like Mayberry, and when we looked up,the Andy Griffith was playing on a TV on the wall. Everything from the building to the menu to the workers to the customers made you feel as if you were on set or better in a small American town where people knew and cared for each other. I was clearly not a regular but they made me feel welcome and as if I belonged. Real honest smiles at me from everywhere.
Fried Chicken was phenomenal and you choose white or dark meat. I felt the Mac and cheese side may have been homemade but others may not have been, but all was very good. Near shoe string fries were cooked perfectly and worth a trip on their own. Everything priced right. The whole experience was over the top great. You just don't find places like this anymore.
This place is the real deal. I wish everyone could experience this place. I'm glad my kids were able to eat here and experience what it means to put your heart into your business, your food, your customers and your community. Special thank you to the owners (I know how hard it is) and all that made this great lunch possible especially the person cooking...
Read moreChicken was good but the sides were very disappointing. The macaroni salad was very bland and dry, mashed potatoes were not hot but the gravy on top was. Pretty quick service but the place needed to be cleaned throughout. Food on the floor in various spots. The chicken was the only thing we liked. Pretty busy place
Ok so I see by their response they didn't "like" my review. I gave an honest opinion on MY VISIT not anyone else's visit simply MY visit. Yes the place was busy, and I never said the tables were dirty I said the floor was. I'm not sure how part of my sides were not as hot as others but they were, I have NO reason to make anything up. The chicken was good and cooked thoroughly and my review was not meant to degrade your business but to encourage you in areas that aren't at the best level they could be. You are correct you cannot please everyone but to comment back in such a defensive manner says it all. I could have mentioned the napkins you have on the tables are so cheap they come apart very easily and the trash can which is only a few feet from the tables was smelling so bad it was hard to eat in that seat. Take constructive criticism and improve, don't go on the defense when no one was bad mouthing you...
