Great experience. I'm in town for a week and this place was on my list from a buddy who was in town for a while, but I saw it was bingo Monday so I decided to definitely try it out tonight. I think my one thing to say about this place is that it doesn't hide behind anything.
I say that because there are a dozen or so burgers on their menu. Many times places use their burger toppings to hide the fact that their burger has no taste. This wasn't the case. An all American burger with just cheese would have tasted great. Bit heavy on the bun to burger ratio, but who can complain with a sweet brioche bun? Burgers came with your typical crinkle fries with upgrades to parmesan or sweet potato fries or side salad available.
Next, is obviously the beer. There are 66 beers on tap. An outrageous tap selection compared to what I'm used to. Again, they didn't hide behind a bunch of beers like some places do. You had I'd guess less than a third of your beers being your typical national beers (lowest priced was $2.50 for a PBR) but there was a great selection of local beers, as well. Furthermore, Brandon (according to my receipt) was awesome. He was attentive to a sole diner like myself and also recommended beers all night for me based on my small descriptions like "something lighter" or "something a bit hoppier."
Lastly, scene. There wasn't a place in the entire bar that you could sit that you couldn't see a television somewhere. There was a nice blend of Game Show Network, news, and sports that anyone could watch what they wanted to, but why watch TV when there was free bingo happening? Seems like a regular crowd playing bingo that all really got into it, but I never once felt out of place or unwelcomed. The decor was on point with their tap runner metal plates, beer paraphilia, and frog nods to their name.
Bottom line, I'd be a regular if I lived here, but it is also a great bar to stop into when just passing...
Read moreOn March 1st, we entered into Hoppers after leaving a celebration of life event for a dear friend of ours, Eric. He had passed too early and we wanted to honor his memory with a drink to end the day. We weren't sure of how to ask for a drink for our departed friend, but we're quickly met by a gentleman who absolutely blew the service expectations any of us had out of the water.
He kindly asked if he could read the program from the service and then made sure he brought our friend a drink. He then explained he would keep the drink set at the bar in his honor until the end of the evening. He was attentive, but not pushy- he was courteous but not intrusive- he was the best representation of what Eric would have been like if he were serving us directly.
Unfortunately, we did not catch his name, but he knows who he is - I wanted to make sure he understood how his kindness and genuineness touched our hearts. Our friend group was lifted up during an incredibly tough time, because of his kindness. Thank you so much for helping us honor our friend, you are the best example of how kindness and love can be shared between strangers to impact their lives in a meaningful way.
We we always remember your kindness and are so grateful that Hoppers has empowered their staff to showcase how an amazing team of people can positively impact even the most difficult of times.
Forever grateful, friends and loved ones of...
