Knowledgeable, trustworthy, and have a GREAT eye. That is how I would describe my experience with Lost in the Woods. I am a collector of vintage Swiss Army knives, located in Toronto, Canada. Dave from Lost in the Woods came across a box of old things from someones estate, and had the keen eye to pick out what would have just looked like an old black knife to most people. What it actually was, was an extremely rare 110 year old rare Wenger knife, of which there was previously only one other example known to exist. How this knife came to be in Waynesville we will never know, but I can tell you right now that collectors all over the world are grateful that this rare early Wenger was saved, instead of lost to the scrap yard. I have shown photographs of the knife to serious collectors all over the world. From Switzerland to Brasil, from Japan to New York, and everyone is in shock. "1 in a million" they are saying. The two most serious collectors in Switzerland, do not have one of these, and they have been looking for one all their lives. Thanks again Dave! you are an instant legend in the SAK community now!

Read moreHonestly, I was skeptical entering an antique shop in such a small town. And happily surprised by Lost In the Woods. Owner was friendly without being too pushy. Seems to converse easily but also left me to my own devices when I showed less interest in a conversation, demonstrating good social sense. Which I really can't overstate the importance of, or how much I appreciated that in such a small space. It put me at ease and allowed me to take in the shop. Bringing us more to the point. I enjoyed the collection of items they have curated and the layout of the store. You won't find junk here, only treasure waiting for the right owner to discover it. My favorite part of this store is their use of the bathroom as a show space. It has a high ceiling and wall items are placed high up on the walls for your viewing pleasure. It even gave me ideas for decorating my own bathroom. Bottom line, would recommend making this a stop during your time in...
Read moreIt's been awhile since I have done any reviews, but this business deserves recognition. Dave, the owner, clearly has exceptional business acumen.
From his introductory commentary on his store, to his politeness, and to is personableness, I liked him. His shop is clean, organized, and filled with enough variety, that you'll end up leaving with something.
He was engaged enough with us without being pushy. His pricing was more than fair, he even gives Veterans a good discount.
Skip all the garbage stores that seem to for the Missouri landscape. Visit this man's store, and give him your business. I bought a piece of cool military memorabilia, not actually because I wanted it, but because he deserved it by how he approached his business.
Will definately be by again. Thanks for restoring a bit more of my quickly fading faith in...
