Ate lunch here after a spa day at the spa nextdoor. I noticed this as we drove by to get to the spa and was interested immediately. I was already thinking about fish and chips for lunch as soon as I saw it. I convinced my husband that we had to go because of course fish and chips. We got done at the spa a little after typical lunch rush, but walked over anyway. It was pretty empty with maybe 3 other parties, but we sat down near the bar and were served by the bartender. I'll say a little about him now. My first opinion of him was that he reminded me of the character Chris Farley played in Tommy Boy but even with all the unintentional slap stick, I really enjoyed him. He seemed super genuine and waited on us well. I already knew I wanted Fish and Chips, but I also happened to be National Pretzel day and I decided to get the pretzels and cheese as well. My husband also ordered fish and chips and when we were ask what side homemade chips or fries I ask the bartender what he prefers. He said fries and recommended that one of us got the steak fries and one get shoe string. So that's what we did. The pretzels were delicious. Perfectly soft and that cheese! Yum! There were definitely not enough pretzels for that amazing cheese so we dipped our fries in it and ask for another cup! Fish and Chips was very good. You could tell it was hand battered and it was light and flakey. The batter was crispy and had good flavor. But the star was the Tarter sauce. It reminded me of Tarter from London with a dill flavor. I loved it. I also preferred the steak fries and am glad we were recommended to try both. And if course the cheese was great on the fries. We also got to take home a plastic cup which I'm a sucker for. I really think that this place would be really fun to get dinner at and stay for drinks. I loved the "pub" look and feel. And I think it would attract a fun crowd. All in all I would love to go back if I'm ever in MO again. It was clean, charming and had great good. Also the bartender was a ton of fun even with the after lunch crowd.

Llywelyn's Pub in Webster Groves is a classic local tavern sporting a pleasant Celtic tradition. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is a mix of sports bar and Scottish pub. In addition to the long bar counter, the main dining areas, and high tops, the semi-private rooms offer terrific space for gatherings, and there is ample outdoor seating on the patio. The menu offers traditional pub fare, together with a handful of classics from the British Isles, like Shepherd's Pie. It's quite good for pub fare. And the beer list is truly impressive. Prices are a little high but are also not unreasonable. I always enjoy a visit to Llywelyn's in Webster, and this visit on a Sunday afternoon was no exception. Good stuff!

To be honest, the pub burger has no right to say it’s “award winning” on the menu. If you’re going by those standards, the burger was a complete disappointment. If you’re going by normal restaurant burger standards, it was a decent bite, except for the dry muffin. The side of Mac n’ Cheese had a pretty good white cheese sauce on it, but I enjoyed the few fries that my companion shared with me a little better. I will have to give a shout out that they made us a very good Bloody Mary, probably the best I’d had! The last note is the appetizer, we had fried pickles which were delicious! However 12 dollars is a bit steep even for how good they were. Overall it was a solid experience, would probably come again but not get the burger.

I will never step foot in this place again. I used to love going there when it first opened but the last couple times I have been in the service has been atrocious. I went there this past weekend to grab a quick drink and bite before a concert. At first, everything was fine. We ordered drinks which took about 10 minutes to come out and that's where it started to go downhill. We put in an order for a salad, boneless wings and a side of sweet potato fries. The food took about 30 minutes to come out, which was brought out by a runner. The fries were cold but everything else was fine. We asked for silverware and he said he'd bring some right out. After a couple minutes, my sister went in to find some herself but could only find one. Since she was eating the salad and I was eating boneless wings, I began eating the wings with my fingers. Not a huge deal but still not what's supposed to happen at a restaurant. Another 10 minutes after that, our waitress came to check on us (that's 40 minutes since she was last at our table) at which point I pointed out that I was eating with my fingers. She said she would get me some to which I replied I only had 2 left so no big deal and we'll take our checks. She stormed off. 5 minutes later she came back and placed silverware in front of my empty tray and asked if we wanted our checks. I informed her that we had asked for our checks the last time she was out there and again she stormed off. We got our checks and to my surprise, my bill had $10 wings (correct) and $12 for one beer and $7 for a side of cold sweet potato fries (incorrect). Surely something was wrong so I found our waitress and asked if this was an error because those two prices seemed too high. She explained that she only pushes buttons but would happily get her manager. That was the last I saw of our waitress and from there the manager came out to talk to us. I asked about the prices to which she explained that a higher ABV beer comes with a higher price tag...STOP. I've gotten a 10% ABV beer before, I expect it to cost $1-$2 more than a normal beer so call it $7. She said if the fries were cold she would make that right and take those off the bill. In the end, that about evens out so I called it good, paid and left. Not once did I raise my voice, use a vulgar word or in any way be disrespectful towards the staff but I spoke my mind and told them how I felt. Now I'm warning anyone that has gotten this far to heed my advice and...

I should have gone to O'Charleys; that's where my in-laws wanted to go. But I wanted to eat local instead (which we typically do - in or out of town) and we agreed to go to Llywelyn's. I was looking forward to the pot roast, which I've had there before. What I got was cold, with hard carrots and rough fatty meat. I was disappointed and asked our server if I could just order something else (I don't think I've ever done this before.) I ordered the shepards pie. My family was done eating and my new meal came. It was hot and looked delicious. I took the first bite and there was bread in it... Weird, I moved the food around to find there was no mashed potatoes, but a biscuit instead. I told the waiter to just take it off the bill and I didn't want anything else (My family was done eating for a while now and my 7 month old was growing restless.) He insisted on getting his manager, although I said it was no big deal, we would just take the bill. The manager showed up, talked to my baby for a while, then asked how everything was... Um, well... It wasn't that great and I told her about both meals. She looked at my second meal and asked, "so you aren't going to eat that?" Well, um, no, because Shepard's pie is made with mashed potatoes, which there wasn't any and there was a biscuit in its place. She said "thanks for letting me know, I'll take it off the bill and check in on the kitchen. Are you sure we can't get you something else?" I explained I couldn't wait anymore with a restless baby and two of the other three meals we had also were cold, so I especially couldn't wait if the meal wasn't going to be good. Not sure why I waited for a manager, just so I could repeat myself and she could do me the big favor of not charging me for a meal I didn't eat. So we paid for everyone else's bill and I left hungry. They get two stars instead of one, because I have had good experiences there before, but after tonight I probably won't visit the Webster location again. I did end up having delicious left overs from Broadway Oyster Bar, so,...
