The food at Teddys is not the issue. My rating is based on customer experience. I had been a customer of teddys since their pop up days before they had a brick and mortar. Recently as they rose in popularity they introduced online ordering. Great right? I used this service and it works fine to take your order. The issue comes when you go pick up your order that you're told will be ready at a specified time. For example the receipt I included on this review shows I placed an order at 11:54 AM planning to pick it up for the family for lunch. The receipt shows a time of 12:15 which says due which is in the order can be picked up. On this day I showed up right at 12:15. I saw there were 3 cars already in line but I didn't think much of it as I was there just to pick up. About a minute into joining the line an employee comes out to the car window. He ask if he can help. I say I'm there to pick up an order and provide my name. He attends other cars then proceeds into the restaurant. He comes back out about 10 minutes later to my window. This time he asks for my order number. I provided it. I'm thinking to myself they should know if they see in their system when this order was placed and hoped they would have a system in place to get that order placed in advance out. No. They service others in the order they arrive and make everyone wait behind them. At one point I was finally at the front of the line. I'm still waiting. It's been 20 minutes since I arrived and it was placed in advance. I call teddys. As you can see in the screen shot they couldn't answer. Time shows I continued waiting and calling. Finally got the order around 12:50! I decide to leave a comment on Facebook. This is the saddest part. The owner of teddys decided to be unprofessional and share my review on his personal Facebook account. Instead of being a professional and reaching out and maybe learning to improve his online ordering experience he chose to not face me and try to shame me to his friends and followers. Some people will never understand how to be a professional. Don't go to teddys just as he said. It's funny because like I said at the beginning I was a long time customer and this had already happened before. The thing is it kept happening. Talk about respect. The final photo is of his post that someone sent me letting me know how unprofessional they...
Read moreReview has been updated to my most recent visit which wasn't great. DON'T CALL JUST COME! No I'm serious they don't answer the phone and when you get here you'll understand why. When I got there I found out quickly why they don't answer their phones. The place was a MADHOUSE. Line out the door and limited parking so you'll likely have to park on the street. I got lucky and found an empty space. Limited seating as well. The brisket is definitely worth the visit. I tried their moist brisket which was plenty moist. The sauce which is available at every table definitely had good flavor and a nice kick to it. I also tried their turkey which while moist it probably could have been moister. Their sausage they have three different types and I tried their Chilepiran-Cheddar which was not as spicy as I was expecting given they said it was spicy. If you get there for a early dinner you should be good figure 4pm. The gal that works there said it is not unusual for them to run out by 6pm. I gave them a 4 for atmosphere because the place is REALLY tiny and seating is limited but people seem to eat and leave pretty quickly so seating at least during lunch was fine. They also have seating outside.
This review has been updated. They need to work on their consistency. I went here Sunday November 10th and it just wasn't as good. Brisket which the last time I went was moist, the second trip was dry. Disappointed.... First photo was frst time and photo next to it was the most recent time...
Read moreToday my wife and I traveled to Harlingen and on our way back decided to stop at Teddy’s BBQ restaurant in Weslaco. Upon arrival (11:45 am) we learned we would have to wait outside in the hot sun because the line extended outside of the front door. We waited patiently and eventually were able to move slowly into the restaurant. It took approximately 45 minutes before we were able to get to our table with the food. The food taste was very good, the prices were expected to be high but the disappointing thing was the beans on the chicken plate was like a 2 ounce cup. Over all the size of the restaurant is just to small. The establishment is blessed to have good business because they had a good size crowd but needs changes drastically. There was only 1 young man behind the counter cutting the meat one customer at a time which stalled the line. To be fair there seemed to have a couple of large parties inside but there is very limited seating available. Yes they have seating outside but the tables are located right next to the hot pits. The brisket, chicken and sausage were very good, the problem here was just the time it took to get to our table only means we probably won’t be back. Wish them the best and hope the management considers improving the seating of the dining room, getting more help behind the counter and more importantly getting rid of a 2 ounce cup of beans they call a...
