Teriyaki House Japanese Grill — Restaurant in West Des Moines

Typically I really like this place, however. Yesterday I had chicken with fried rice and the salad with ranch. I got really sick from it, vomit and diarrhea and now have horrible muscle pain in my back and abdomen from dry heaving and all day the day after I've been in pain from muscle spasms. I'm writing this bad review in hopes that the restaurant double checks that everything is fresh. I'm unsure if it was the chicken or the leafy greens were bad. Excellent food! Edit to add still delicious food and friendly service, but place is filthy. Every salt, pepper, and soy sauce container was extremely sticky. I went at 11:15 and was the first customer of the day. There were two employees on duty, that seemed to be doing nothing, just standing around. If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean. You know what I’m saying. This is a basic opening or closing procedure . If you can’t get these basic things right, it makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. I'm conflicted with this review. We have ordered from Teriyaki House several times in the past. The food has been ok. Not great but ok. The order today was much less than ok. All the proteins were way overcooked, almost burnt. The scallops had no taste and we're dry. Shrimp mostly the same. The extra side of vegetables consisted of 3 tiny broccoli florets, some grated carrot and a majority of large diced white onion. The expectation was mushrooms, water chestnuts, bean sprouts or snow peas. With tip, tax and fees this $60+. Certainly not the quality or value...
