Wasabi in Waukee is a fantastic dining destination for sushi and Japanese cuisine enthusiasts. The restaurant's ambiance is modern and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for both casual and special dining occasions. The sushi menu is impressive, featuring a wide array of creative and traditional rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Their presentation of dishes is artistic and appealing, enhancing the overall dining experience. The menu also includes a variety of other Japanese dishes, catering to a broad range of tastes. Service at Wasabi is attentive and friendly, with staff members willing to offer recommendations for those new to Japanese cuisine. The cleanliness and attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant are commendable. Wasabi in Waukee is a must-visit for anyone looking for a delightful sushi experience or a taste of authentic Japanese flavors

We’ve eaten here so much, and we absolutely love it. We’ve never had something we don’t enjoy, from dumpling appetizers to their sushi to ramen. All 10/10, and we probably get it too often. But what tipped me over into writing a review was tonight. My fiancé and I went to figure out our signature drinks for our upcoming wedding. Henry, the bar manager, was so incredible! He was kind and willing to try things, and he had amazing taste for suggesting drinks based on what we liked. The bar is incredibly stocked, no drink seemed off the table. We spent almost 3 hours there eating and drinking, and we never felt a burden. Would recommend Wasabi to anyone for food and/or drinks.

I've been to many of the Wasabi locations and they're all generally pretty similar with small differences. The food is always very tasty and full of flavour and the service generally okay. I rarely if ever feel smothered which I always consider a plus and I really enjoy the selection of sushi and entrée dishes offered. It's no surprise that it's a popular spot among the locals. I have had a few issues with my meals being a bit slow or incorrect in the past but generally it's not a common issue and the staff do their best to make things right when there is a problem.

I was excited to go to this restaurant for my friends birthday but sadly I don’t think I’ll be going back. My waitress McKenzie was good, it was only her third night but she was very attentive. However the issue was when I was eating my chicken wonton ramen I found a hair wrapped up in the noodles. I didn’t make a fuss. I calmly called her over and she rushed to get her manager. I showed the manager and again without a fuss asked for another ramen to be made for me. McKenzie was very apologetic; even going as far as thanking me to be so cool about it and that I would not be charged for it but the manager Doug never apologized at all. The second bowl came out, I was skeptical to eat it but it was good so no complaints. But then the bill came and the ramen was still showing so I asked McKenzie about it, she took it to manager Doug but came back and said I would only be given a 10% discount. I was sorely disappointed by the managers way of addressing the issue. I had only taken a couple of bites of the first ramen and the bowl was still full when I called them over to show the hair in the soup. If that’s how they treat customers I WILL NOT be back to here or to any of the locations around...

Nothing against the restaurant. We have tons of options for this kind of food. I went in with an open mind and thought the following. I’d say this place is just average. Nothing really blew me away. The chicken wontons were different. The sauce was a little strange but still good enough to dip. I assumed they would be crunchy but are actually soft like a dumping. The pad Thai was ok. Nothing crazy. The sushi… not my preference . I got the spicy crab roll and thought it was very plain. It wasn’t spicy at all? They didn’t even top it with spicy mayo? Here’s the worst part. I’ve gone to way too many Asian restaurants. I’ve never had anyone ever tell me they couldn’t make my food spicy because the kitchen will just make it too spicy. So instead, the server brought chili oil to me and claimed it was extremely spicy. My tolerance isn’t that crazy. It really wasn’t spicy. I’ve had chili oil numerous places. The place maybe targets a different kind of crowd. Maybe a crowd who doesn’t like anything very spicy at all. Definitely average and would suggest if in the area. Definitely not an option for someone that doesn’t make it past West Des Moines. There’s numerous places that just kick this one...

The whole experience was just awful. The waiting area can hold 2 people, no more.. With all due respect, our waitress was dressed and looked like she came straight from the beetlejuice movie.. Its fine, it happens. But it wouldn't have been half as bad if she had not constantly come over and interrupted us and our conversation.. My dates glass was almost full when she came over to top it off one time. The waitress made my date feel uncomfortable by coming over every few minutes, because she thought that she was trying to make us get up and leave so to make room for new guests, where I had to reassure her that she's just doing her job because there was nobody in line, or whatever her reason was (if its not out of spite, then its surely lack of training) On top of that, the bill was $66 for 2 entrees and 3 drinks.. What math she used to get to that number is still a mystery to me... The food was good, thank God. Maybe it just wasn't her day, and if it's that,...
