Silver Spring Family Restaurant — Restaurant in West Hempfield Township

I know a lot of local families stop by here regularly. After many years of convincing us to finally go, we did. The wait was actually very long, as it was a Sunday morning and crowded. But there was a large party ahead of us who did not like the television above them, and asked if he turned off. Considering there was no sound, I thought it was a bit odd. They had rowdy kids who couldn’t stand the wait (it was at least 45 minutes). We also found out before we left that our waitress was on her first ever shift... and had no help waitressing, which is why the service was inconsistent and the wait was long. She was very friendly, though. And she apologized for the wait. But I would not exactly say that the food was worth the wait. It was mediocre-good, but it did not totally satisfy my expectations after the long wait and noisy table neighbors & close proximity to them, as well. It’s a very cozy area. Terrible service, Waitress was rude and disrespectful to all the customers not just me and my friend. They also over charged me way too much. I didn’t leave a tip on the card and the waitress saw that I didn’t leave a tip on the table either and came up to the register and told the lady checking us out that there was nothing on the table. The lady checking us out then continues to say we weren’t tipping and n the card either in front of our faces. Then our waitress said “was there something wrong with my service” which made me feel obligated to leave a tip that was in no way deserved at all. I work as a waitress as well and have never ever seen service this bad and never seen what happened right in front of my face with the asking for a tip. After I was done checking out the ladies were talking about us in front of our faces and didn’t even say thank you or anything. I don't understand the reviews of this restaurant. My wife order the minestrone soup. She had to send it back. I was like no minestrone either of us ever ate. More like chilly; thick like paste. maybe the boiled all the broth away? I hoped the lasagna would be better. Wrong. I have never tasted lasagna like this. It should taste like meat, cheese and tomato sauce. Well, it was what looked like lasagna, served in a bowl, covered with mozzarella, but what was that taste? I still can not identify it. And the sauce was a dark red, almost black paste. Now I've eaten at some pretty poor restaurants in my life and I'm not particularly picky; if it tastes half decent, if it's eatable, I'm ok with it. But this wasn't. This was, without a doubt, the worst restaurant I have ever entered. I would say eaten at, but we simple could not eat what was served. Well, that's not 100% accurate. The salad was decent. The rest was not fit for a dog. I think even a homeless person would walk out of this...
