I never thought I would ever write a review about a business but from my experience I really have to.
I’ve been here 3 times, the first time was the worst.i tried giving these people the benefit of the doubt but they sure are racist. I had finished my food and was ready to pay.
The man working there said it would be better for me to pay in cash when I was about to pay with my card so I said okay and before paying in cash I told him that I might not have enough cash so my girlfriend will go to the car to grab the rest if need be and he agreed.
So my total came up to $70 and I had $69 cash with me which I handed to him and told him that my girl will go to the car and grab a dollar. While we were waiting for her to bring the dollar this man is huffing and puffing saying she’s taking too long mind you she was only out for 2 minutes so I said to him that he was the one that insisted that we pay cash and I told him that I might not have enough so why is he now acting like we are trying to steal “$1”.
And the 2nd time I went there they were very hostile with me compared to how to they were the white people and Hispanic people there.
The 3rd time which will be my last time, the young lady there makes a face to the same man that was weird to me when I first came in, they served me with a dirty plate as well. When I even left a tip she didn’t say thank you.
I ordered a burrito and tacos but I forgot to say that the burrito was to eat there and the tacos was to go. So I quickly said it a minute after I had finished placing my order. The lady just looks at me like she’s fed up, doesn’t say anything to me and walks away.
SO Please if you’re AFRICAN AMERICAN DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT US SPENDING OUR MONEY HERE OR NOT LET’S GO WHERE WE...
Read moreIt's been a while since I've been extremely satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere of a restaurant. A triple threat. Still new to the area and love to find foodie spots that are consistent, have good food and service. Oh and close to home. This place is truly a gem. As of today, within the course of one week, I've already been there 3 times!! LOL..and might go today if I get a craving. I've been looking for a latin restaurant and found authentic Mexican food instead which I absolutely love. It's soul food to me. The first time we ordered a burrito bowl, chicken breast en mole poblano and 2 tres leches (my favorite dessert!). Second time was an enchilada en mole. Third time was 2 enchiladas (one mole Verde and one mole poblano), side salad and 2 tres leches.
I don't know where to start, but the mole poblano is fantastic. It's a rich sauce with lots of amazing flavors. The chicken breast was tender and not dry, the enchiladas were savory and satisfying. The yellow rice was delicious and lightly flavored. Even the salad was great. The vinaigrette dressing was everything right. Tasted like a melon dressing. No clue, but gimme more!! Lol The tres leches cake was more dense than I'm used to, but it soaked up the leches so well. Mouthwatering!
Customer service is always fantastic. They are patient and very friendly. Service is quick. Oh and the place is always spot clean, right down to the prepping table.
Way to go management!...

The restsurant had changed hands since the review posted below! I went to the restaurant Thanksgiving eve and ordered a Chicken Burrito to go.
Everything tasted as if it were a week old at best.
The ingredients were not fresh, the taste was not authentic Mexican flavors, the beans were like a pureed clump of mush, the rice stale and obviously THE CHICKEN and BEANS HAD GONE BAD!!!!
I became violently ill soon after eating it although I ate less than half.
I understand that Thanksgiving eve may not be the ideal time to dine at a lesser populated diner, but that does NOT excuse the esrablishment from serving and charging for food that has gone rotten!!!!!
I miss the original owners and menu. The food was very good and the staff were very warm and welcoming.
Adios to the old State Diner and VAMOS to the new!!!!! :(
I've had breakfast there a couple times in the last several weeks.
The service is extremely welcoming and efficient! The staff are all very friendly!
There is only one issue I would love to see improvement in. The butter comes in those tiny plastic containers and is served solidly cold. Bu the time I finish the ardous task of opening several of those containers, and trying to spread the butter, my pancakes are cold so the butter can't melt. :(
Other than that I like the place very much and will continue to patronize them!
And YEAH for an Urugyuan restaurant in West...
