What a pleasant surprise! We were actually going to a different restaurant that was closed and having a pop-up special and we're looking for somewhere to go to eat. I said isn't that little restaurant by the closed bridges still open? Well I forgot it's not little at all. To start with they have two huge parking lots one alongside the building and one across the street. When the weather gets better they have dining on the sidewalk for those who like al fresco dining. The main dining room has 8 tables in it. The room next door has several boots and a bar type area. There is a private area at the back with boots and tables for a private party or to be opened if there's overflow. We got there at 5:00 p.m. by 5:30 the dining room was filled. I can see why ...they have an extensive menu with a large variety plus they put out a specialty sheet daily. And then when I heard them recite the dessert list I was like," oh !I've got to save room!" because there were at least 12 different desserts. Unfortunately I never got to order off the menu, the specialty menu got me with 'porterhouse steak 'which I got medium rare and was excellently done with french fried onion rings I got a side salad and a really large baked potato. My other half got the fried chicken and a side of pasta with alfredo sauce and a salad. Our only complaint was you could tell the chicken had been fried before and reheated it was not fried right then and it was still tasty but not crispy. The pasta is a pick your pasta and then pick your sauce. Lou chose the vodka sauce which was delightfully sweet /creamy and had chunks of tomatoes in it. The only issue may be the choice of drinks at this place they only have bottled beer nothing on tap, very slim choice of basic wine. They do have high chairs here and the bathrooms are spotless. I would only suggest since this establishment seems to be a family oriented that they get a changing table in the bathroom. The overall Decor in the restaurant is Pleasant and the art on the wall is from particular artists that are selling their paintings. Probably a spillover from second Friday that occurs in Pittston. They're quite a few lovely paintings. I would definitely put this on my list of restaurants to try if you've never been here. Everything is very handicap...
Read moreFirst time to order here, and unfortunately had to order pickup. Breaking my own rule of 3 before posting about a restaurant, but this, this was bad.
Ordered the "Haddock Creole". Not sure what in this dish constitutes "creole", but it ain't here. The creole sauce itself was more of a soup packed with bland mushrooms (that taste like they're from a can), onions and tomatoes. Again, what is creole about this? I'm from Texas and close to Louisiana, if you say Creole, im expecting the Holy Trinity and some spice. This sauce had none of that. Then the poor haddock. It had no flavor, I'm not even sure they put salt or pepper in prior to pan searing. And the mashed potatoes, out of a package and drowned in brown gravy (I had no idea brown gravy was automatically put on the mash).
The lady who took my payment and told me where my food was was oh so pleasant as well.
Overall, I think this restaurant gains its stars from locals who have lived here and eaten here forever and are afraid to tell anyone what they really think. I dunno. But this "Haddock Creole" is as far removed from being a creole style dish as it could be. And the kitchen needs to learn the basic art of 'salt and pepper'.
This is a one and done...
Read moreMy nephew who is disabled wanted to go here mistaken it for a pitza restaurant where he visited a few months before. As we sat down he asked the waitress about ordering a pizza and she coldly said, " we don't make pizza here go down the street ", my nephew had a headache and I knew he was hungry so we both got a bowl of soup, the waitress had a attitude, gave us our soup and never came back to see if it was okay. Then I had to wave her down for a take home container for my pasta fagioli which I didn't care for and the restaurant was not busy so she had time to stop and asked as she walked by. I won't be going there again, plus...
