I hate to see a new business not do well but this one is in need for improvement. It’s new, I get it but do what you have to. First it was not too busy but my wife and I waited to be seated, to order our drinks, to get said drinks, to order our food, to get our salads and much more time to get our meal. I looked at so many tables with the same issues. We got our food after an hour and they had ran out of sour cream for a baked potato, it was just after 6pm. I could understand that if it were a chain but it’s a single restaurant. One of the owners, which was just standing around talking should make arrangements to get sour cream at either of the two local grocery stores. If you’re in the service industry you need to know what that means. Again, I know it’s new but the food was sub par. The ribeye was overcooked and wasn’t very good. The salmon was dry and the rice, oh my, how do you fail at rice? Our server was very nice an apologetic but that’s no excuse for the operation. I’ve talked with several others that experienced the same. I hope they survive this curve. The Italian restaurant across the street knows how to run a restaurant. They’re always busy and I’ve never heard a bad thing about their business practices. I hope you’re successful but I have reservations.
Edit: I understand now since my review was answered. Johnnys is across the street from this establishment. It’s Italian. It may not be straight across the street but it’s across the street. The waitress even apologized for not having sour cream. Still no excuse for overcooking food. The manager was too involved with the table right beside the middle stool seating for me to interrupt. Our visit was Saturday at 6pm the first week you were open. I’ll be glad to continue this in a more private communication if you’d like. Again, I hope you succeed. I’m...
Read moreI came here for the first time with my wife around 3pm on a Saturday. The service was great. We were immediately seated and the hostess and waiter were both friendly. Our order was taken promptly and the food followed shortly thereafter. Refills were handled promptly and the owner came and greeted us, asking about our experience before we left.
We ordered the steak kabob with broccoli & the NY strip with grilled onions, shrimp, brussel sprouts, and a loaded baked potato. Our drinks were sweet tea and the brumble cocktail.
The steak kabob came with a bed of rice and it was well seasoned. The meat was very tender and paired well with the sides. We excluded peppers on the kabob. The broccoli was just right, not too dry or saturated. The rice was cooked well.
The NY strip was fine. It was cooked to medium per our request. The taste was reminiscent of your typical steakhouse, nothing unique to report there. The grilled onions were a bit strong (I believe purple onions), and a sweeter option like a Vidalia onion would’ve been a better choice for this purpose in my opinion. Nonetheless, it didn’t take away from the overall taste profile of the dish. The grilled shrimp was seasoned well and paired well with the steak. The brussels were fried with a hint of sweetness. I enjoyed them. The loaded baked potato was good as well.
Both drinks were good. The cocktail was on the stronger side but still had a moderate to high level of sweetness. The sweet tea was fine. We did not ask for bread but the menu stated that it was available upon request.
Overall, I’d recommend Steak & Company for anyone looking for a nicer dining option in the area. The ambiance was nice and the decor gives modern chic vibes. It’s a nice addition to the downtown West Point area and there’s additional parking in the back. We’ll...
Read moreThis place is pretty good. You can tell that everything is freshly made and they've got the right idea, but a few things need refined for it to be great. Salad was great, homemade ranch dressing is very good. I had the porkchop which was good not great, small details missing like cooking the sauce out a little more. Chop was cooked excellent and the flavors were good, just missing that small detail of the sauce being a little bit cooked. The squash casserole is a little too bready. The cajun dip was good, but another dish that was just missing the finishing touch. You put it in a cast iron which is nice, but a little melted cheese on top would have been a nice touch. Our dip was warm not hot, added some melted cheese and make it hot... A+ Loaded baked potato was good, im not a fan of getting the toppings in a side cup and probably would just order a regular one next time, but no major gripes with that. Overall, we enjoyed the meal, my date questioned if this place had just opened based on how we both felt about the food. Good, but lacking on a few details. Its definitely a place I would try again and a place that will probably get better as they figure it out and refine...
