We discovered quickly that the concept here is, "It's our way or the highway."
Authoritarian Pizza Co. of West Point might be a more fitting name for this establishment. The large pizzas (the only available size; we ordered two) were under cooked and overstated. They were cooked just long enough to melt the cheese, barely. So the crust under the ingredients was somewhat soggy toward the middle. Soggy pizza served to you on tissue paper with plastic forks and knives. Use your imagination here. Not a pleasant experience for us.
One in our party was served a $25 cheese pizza with 5-6 raw basil leaves tossed on top of it. Another member spent time picking ingredients off of another pizza they didn't like and to be honest, didn't want. The tissue paper becomes a part of your meal in a matter of minutes.
I began to wonder what might happen if a wheelchair user entered this eatery. Would they be told they would have to sit at the one designated table over there where nobody else wants to sit...or hit the road if they disagreed?
If you prefer vegetarian and are hungry for delicious pizza options, you will probably be very displeased here; I was. The menu is full of fresh ingredients that sound enticing enough, but with lots of meat ingredients added to them. If you wanted even one ingredient (onions, olives, basil...it doesn't matter) held back, it's an automatic, "no deal." So you're left to pick it and flick it, or suffer through it. My choice after a miserable first attempt was to walk on down the road with a firm commitment not to look back.
I asked, "Are these pre-made frozen pizzas with a garnish or two added to them?"
"Nope, they are made fresh but the owner doesn't permit us to make any changes to their recipes," was the reply that came back.
Later, I spoke with a 'Regional Manager' on duty during our visit. She listened intently, said nothing except hello and goodbye.
No guesswork here. One size fits all...well maybe. This place didn't...
Read moreLet me start by saying that our server at the West Point location, Jessica, was wonderful. No complaints there, and tipped accordingly.
But good grief are we outraged at the prices verses what you get. The pizza is below average. Honestly there is nothing remarkable about the flavors. And the cheese is nearly nonexistent.
The prices are our biggest complaint. In the current economy, most families cannot or will not pay this much for mediocrity. Our other gripe is that we are not allowed to modify the specialty pies. This is ridiculous and to build our own up to our desire would be astronomical!!!!!
This sad green salad was $11! This 1.5 topping one size only pizza was $21. We drank water because we anticipated an exorbitant bill and still ended up over $46 after tip.
There is no kids menu.
With all the other options in a 15 miles radius it will be a very long time before we return here.
I hate to complain because I recall a time we had nothing to choose from in West Point, but Karvelas doesn’t bring enough value...
Read moreThe pizza 🍕 was very bland no flavor and very dry. The crush was tuff and chewy almost like rubber. The service was almost as bad 👎. It was in the early evening before dinner but we'll after lunch, I was the only customer in the place. It felt as if I was interrupting this two guys routine. I placed my order paid for it and then both guy turned their back to me to continue whatever it was that they were doing before. When my order was ready the guy just gave me the box. No plates or napkins, I had to ask for those items. I had to ask for both cheese and peppers as well. Now as for the Atmosphere in my opinion there is none. It's a sports bar. TV's all over the place. Grant it, I my have come at a back time of day. You know between the two big meals, however, I feel as if they could have cared less about my business. So with all that being said, I will never walk into those...
