Lonestar Saloon — Restaurant in West Valley City

Picture any dive bar, from pretty much any movie - Top Gun, whatever. Including 80's rock overly bass boosted. Welcome to Lonestar Saloon.

Not being from Utah, I was surprised to see four very active poker tables, all full. Close to 40 poker players and about 8 others of us there to get something to eat (and drink). (And some to lose money.) 1 cute waitress serving the poker crowd. I surly waitress serving the rest of us. And tbh, I'd probably be surly too with that difference in income for the night. But still, with my first beer gone I was headed to the bar to ask for another when she popped out from wherever she was hiding. That should have never happened. Ces't la Vie.

I got the Lonestar Burrito, as it was the special of the day. When I asked if they had any dark beers I practically had to drag it out of her that they had an Irish Stout in a can ( Murphy's. Good if you haven't tried it.) The burrito was tasty, a little spicier than I would have expected at a place like this, but not overly so. Served with beans that were a little on the salty side. And the side of quac ($2.25) was surprisingly good, though on the small side.

Came here for karaoke and the DJ was so rude! Just a heads up, there's some seriously complicated karaoke rules here and if you don't understand or follow them right off the bat you will be yelled at by the DJ. Yes, it's a bar but you still need to have a mind that is similar to a sober person with a PHD to fully understand what is expected of you for the karaoke kiosk. She removed out names from the circulation because we didn't follow the rules exactly. We have never done karaoke here before so we were a little confused about the rules at first which is what caused all the problems. We complained to the karaoke manager who said the DJ was pregnant which is why she so was rude. The manager of the bar also addressed the issue and seemed to be understanding. Went there last night with some friends, we ordered drinks and some did karaoke. It was going well until one of the bar tenders came up to us and said, "If we didn't start tipping our waitress he would kick us out and won't let us come back." I guess our waitress complained that she hasn't gotten any tips from us (which was bull 💩) and it was only 11 and some of us had a tab open and some of us would pay her in cash and let her keep the change. She didn't check up on us, we had to flag her down because she would always just pass our table and get other tables. It wasn't packed and it had a good amount of people there and it wasn't busy. She had no excuse to pass our table and half the time when we ordered drinks she would forget our drinks so half the night we were missing drinks.
