We were driving up to Dallas and we always end up stopping at all the places around here that sell kolaches and my wife said you've never stopped over at Gerik's. Well today was the day. It actually missed it and had to take the turnaround which was only 4 minutes so it wasn't too bad. We stopped and got out and once you walked inside wasn't very busy but was afternoon probably around 1230. Once inside, you're met with a beautiful aesthetic of lights, bars and pastries. There was a lot more seating than I was expecting to see where I thought there would be more items for sale on the floor, but there was tons of stuff. So much stuff. In fact that there was an extra room with some arcade units and coin operated the toy machines. Though it looks like overflow for orders are left here for pickup. Everything was bigger than the biggest thing sold at another store. If you look at the pictures I mean the cinnamon roll was huge. The sausage jalapeno and cheese were huge. The poppy seed kolaches were huge. I must admit I was a little overwhelmed with all the selections but I was happy with what I picked two ham and cheeses which were like $2.25 a piece and with the cinnamon roll and everything we bought like seven items we were out of there for under 20 bucks. Worth the stuff. Worth the look. I'd give it five stars in atmosphere if there was more things turned on to utilize that we're in the store like the arcade and stuff like that.

By dinner time, obviously pickings are slim, so get there earlier if you want specific ones. You will most certainly be splitting these. The red velvet was delightful and I'm usually not big on that flavor. Wedding cake was my second favorite. Not overly done on the filling. I hate sprinkles and the like, but I didn't mind the sugar on top. The plain cinnamon was good as well. Cinnamon rolls typically aren't my thing, these glamored up ones are addictive. Took a small try of the sprinkle cookie. I'd say it's good. I'm not a sprinkle fan, but the flavor of the cookie was good and moist. The Italian cream cinnamon roll and the chocolate chip cookies were dry and already tasted like yesterday. The cookies will be fine warmed up, I'm sure. Get there before dinner time, and I'm sure you'll get fresher items. They sell day old ones for discount too. My pics don't do them justice, sorry!

Wow! What a hidden gem!! I was out here in West Texas for a work trip and my friend chose this restaurant so we could eat dinner and pick up some breakfast items. Unfortunately we didn’t get to try their pizza BUT our food was great nonetheless! She got a chicken fried steak and I got a burger and fries. Although it’s pretty hard to mess up a burger, I could tell it was made fresh and full of great flavor! Food was affordable and our server was kind and attentive. Afterwards we grabbed some pastries and WOW were they cheap for how big and delicious they are (very sweet but I’m not complaining). I wish I could’ve brought home the GIANT cinnamon rolls they had but they had SO many great options I had to resist lol. But I’m looking forward to visiting this place again if I’m ever out here anytime soon! PLEASE go and give this place a try it genuinely surprised me!

Oh my heavens this place is such a Hidden Gem! If you just drive down a little further from the Czech Stop, you will find your heaven also! First the staff, not too sure you're going to get happier people to serve you! Now let's get down to business. These kolaches are the real deal! Our family used to stop at the Czech Stop that is a right off the highway. I'm sure most of you do not know about this little place just a little further like a quarter or even a maybe an eighth of a mile past the place everyone stops at. The kolaches are twice the size of the other place and not just that they have so much filling in them that you will feel the weight and I also challenge you to eat more than one. The cinnamon rolls are like nothing you've ever seen before. They are like a cinnamon roll the size of a cake. They have all types. And let me say whatever the flavor is that is added to the cinnamon roll you will taste it and you will just sit back in your seat if you're sitting down. Now these cinnamon rolls if you're able to eat the whole thing I will literally be shocked! I'm not sure I've met anyone who is able to eat the whole thing. It's interesting how the prices are very close to those at the other place. These cannot be beat here. You must try the toasted coconut cookie if you're a cookie lover and you're a coconut pie lover or you just like coconut. There is an old school candy that tastes like this cookie. Also this is the first time ever purchased this cookie and took one bite and had to get on here and make a review. All I can say is it was like fighting into something that takes you back in time. I am 53 years old and when I was a child there was a candy I just can't remember what it's called that tastes like this cookie. They also have toasted coconut kolaches and well you've got to try it for yourself. I'm not really a coconut lover per se because there are other flavors there of kolaches that I would get before the coast of coconut but now it is my go-to. Poppy seed kolaches, you will find that they have almost too much poppy seed in them however most places literally sell mostly the big bread with some filling and the bread overpowers the filling. The kolaches here, you going to have some feeling and you're going to say wow because it is more than any other place I have tried. It is actually more than my family has put into hours when we bake them. I'm not complaining about it whatsoever the more the better as long as it balances with that breading! I do hope that you give this place to try you will never go back to any of the people that sell them in other places. They do have it all! Strudels, cake on the kolaches, cookies, boothas ( I know I have misspelled that) but it's somewhat like a strudel but it's made with the same breading as the kolaches. Just try it you will not be disappointed. Happy eating to you and by the way there are other things that they have but they do have it all and they have a restaurant where you can order all types of food and it is all like scratch made from scratch and good luck finishing what they put in front of you because it is hearty helpings! May the Lord bless and keep you all the days of your life and every day is a day for a kolache! Well at least...

OMG. Ive been stopping in West for years. Mostly at The Czech Stop and more recently at Slovaks. Never in my life have I tasted the deliciousness that I just had at Gerik's. I didn't know kolaches could taste like this. The filling was homemade, I just know it. Other places have filling that tastes like jelly. This was real apricot puree. Just great. But, the real treat was the huge cinnamon rolls. Moist outside and inside, these things were GIANT! With flavors like Italian Wedding cake, chocolate cake, regular wedding cake (with little pearls!), Pecan cream cheese. And it goes on and on. The giant cream cheese pecan roll- I don't even know what to say about that fantastic piece of heaven. It's not that they just load this stuff down with a ton of sugary frosting (although it's definitely SWEET). The pastry is yeasty, moist and perfect. They are super generous with the pecans and fillings. And,most important, I can tell the ingredients are high quality. I'm just suprised, shocked and extremely pleased to find this place (thank you TS). I'll be driving down here just to purchase some of this for special parties, weddings, etc. I'm literally blown away by this place. Caution: don't let the building discourage you or the inside. Its a little on the dark side inside but it's possible that it was just the time of day. I also heard they had recently moved into the building so maybe they're remodeling. Doesnt matter. Just go in and get bags and bags of goodies. Apparently they be also have pizza and I am hoping to get some on the way back home....
