Village Bakery — Restaurant in West

So it was late in the day, and they did not have everything. But I decided to get these twist sticks.They have 6 or different flavors, use a special dough (might be their kolache dough, paint the flavors in, twist, bake, and cover in white sugar glaze.

For myself, I got the cheese (like cheesecake flavor) and apricot flavors. We had just eaten a big lunch at the German American restaurant around the corner. So we put them in the back of the car. I wanted to try kolaches, and figured I may as well come taste the originals at the Oldest Czech bakery in Texas. I was not disappointed! Only problem now is that my standards are too high for most other locations to meet. The staff were friendly, patient, and helpful as I asked questions and made my choices. Fast service.
