My partner and I were at the Book Barn in Niantic and wanted some fish and chips before we headed back to New Haven. Edd's Place had one of the higher ratings on here and looked to have some waterfront seating which we thought would be nice for this beautiful summers day. We got what we were looking for and more!

When we pulled up, I was already excited as it looked like the exact type of hole-in-the-wall place you learn to look for growing up in the south. Walking in, we were greeted to a simple food counter and a drink fridge behind, all the seating is outside which is no complaint of ours. The menu isn't overly large or complicated, both big positives for me. I had the 1/3 lb. burger and my partner, the fish and chips. For the burger, it was one of the most delicious ones I've ever had. The seasoning was perfectly varied, but not overpowering. The toppings weren't skimped on, and the bun held together even with how juicy the patty was. For the fish and chips, it was a rare sight for me in how quickly she cleaned that plate so I'll let that speak for the taste.

Overall, we came for good food and good views, and Edd's delivered on both fronts! Stop in the next time you're...

Honestly, I grew up on the shoreline and have driven by this place and never stopped in. A month ago, I woke up with a hankering for blueberry pancakes. Found out a local place by the green in Westbrook does not offer take out on the weekends. So I called here and ordered two orders of pancakes. I didn't know how big they were. Big mistake on my part. The pancakes were huge. Bacon was great, and I had leftovers for Sunday morning. The owner is right at the grill when you walk in. Basically, you walk into a kitchen with a register. There is plenty of seating outside to gaze at the estuary. I'll be back for other items on the menu through the year. She bought the business 3 years ago so I'd like to see her succeed. Stop in. Support a local. You won't be disappointed. Just writing this has made me hungry. I'm thinking of ordering something up before I head back from my appt in Branford tomorrow. If you don't mind waiting to have her meticulously prepare your food, then relax and enjoy the scenery. However, if you're in a hurry, have to get somewhere fast, like everyone these days, then order over the phone so it's ready when...

We went on August 3rd around 6 pm. The food was good, and the atmosphere was nice along the river. However, the help could have been friendlier. While we were eating, the wind picked up and started to blow away some table umbrellas. One umbrella blew up on top of the gazebo and got caught in the tree branches, but my mom and I held onto ours to prevent it from hitting something or someone. Another customer was able to get the umbrella out of the tree as he was worried it might hit his car on the other side of the gazebo. The young lady from inside came out, and she grabbed our umbrella and started lifting it up over the table rather than closing it. This caused rusty water to spill on our food and in our drinks. My mom told her this was happening, and she was rude when responding that she knew. She never said thanks for holding the umbrella or offered us new drinks or food after she even took my plate that had the rusty water on it. I had to throw away some of our drinks and some...

Ed’s Place in Westbrook, Connecticut, is an absolute gem. On a cold, rainy day, it was the perfect cozy spot with a beautiful view of the water and the comforting smell of homemade food filling the air. I had a homemade biscuit with a house-made sausage patty, eggs, and cheese, along with a fresh cup of local coffee that tasted like it was brewed with real care. My best friend ordered the oatmeal topped with fresh strawberries, walnuts, and honey, and everything was fresh and delicious. I also treated myself to a blueberry scone, and couldn’t resist bringing home one of their homemade Hostess cupcakes for my significant other. Everything was flavorful, homemade, and served with a welcoming, small-town charm. I highly recommend Ed’s Place — it’s a true local treasure. (Took photos after taking bites! Couldn’t help myself!)

View= fantastic. There is heated outdoor seating. The service is wonderful. There are prepared meals to go! Everything in the display case for baked goodies tastes as good as it looks - which IMO has been good the few times I’ve gone in so far. Breakfast was great here but today I got a sandwich called ā€œThe side chickā€. It is so good. The chicken is freshly fried up! The Cole slaw is super fresh and I ate a bunch before I took my picture. I love the atmosphere here! They had a Queen record playing today on this snowy blustery winter day and they had a ton of options for Valentine’s Day. Don’t let their size fool you, get on down to Ed’s and get you a side chick!! 🐄
