Windjammer Surf Bar — Restaurant in Westerly

First let me say I love this bar because of the location, good food and live music. I have never had bad service before yesterday night 8/9. There were two young women behind the bar that had absolutely no business being behind a bar. I worked in the service industry for well over ten years so I know it’s difficult especially when busy but you guys were not that busy last night. One of the bartenders who took my food order left the bar for at least 30 minutes if not more and completely abandoned the other who was definitely not prepared enough to handle a bar on her own. She was so overwhelmed I barely wanted to ask for anything when I finally ordered a drink she spilled the entire thing and then took a bow okay i guess it was funny but that was not the only time she spilled in a matter of an hour to two hours of us being at the bar. She seemed very interested in talking and having conversations with all the men rather than working and doing her job. I tried multiple times to get her attention and when I finally did I asked where my food was and she said “I’ve been abandoned at the bar and I can’t do that right now” Like it would have killed her to take ten steps into the kitchen to ask for my food. So Im patiently waiting for the return of the other girl to ask why my food still wasn’t out after my friends who ordered after me had already finished their meals. I was quite and polite but pretty annoyed at this time. She finally comes back I ask her where my food is and she says oh let me check comes out one minute later with a burger. I’m thinking well that was fast was it just sitting out there and no one grabbed it but after taking a look at it I realized it was not the burger I always get.(truffle) It was a regular burger that they put mushrooms on and rushed out to me which was so clearly not the burger I asked for it didn’t have the truffle mayo and the mushrooms were stuck in between the two pattys making the messiest burger I have ever ate. Please don’t ever do that again to anyone it’s sabotage. LOL When I told the girl this isn’t the burger I normally get she just gave me a puzzled look but i’m sure she had just forgot to put my actual order in and had them give her something on the fly, the cheese wasn’t even melted it was just horrible and so far from the usual that i get on a weekly basis here. Had she just told me the truth and said she forgot my order I would have understood but the way she went about it all and her all around negative and cold demeanor made the whole experience nauseating. I’m very disappointed in the service this year. Usually I love the windjammer but it was disappointing this time around. Before I write this review I do want to say that I work at a restaurant on the beach as a server so I get it but I was very disappointed in the way I was talked too. My friend and I got there at around 1:00 we are both 20 and definitely look younger so I don’t know if that’s why we were spoken to the way we were but the hostess was a young woman who was very sweet and then a older woman. We asked if we could sit outside and we were told there were reservations all outside which is totally fine, however the younger hostess told us we could look around and if we saw a table without a reserved sign we could sit in it. Upon arriving back I told her there were many tables without a reserved sign but the older hostess cut me off and very rudely told me “no, those aren’t for you they’re for other people.” I was taken aback and told her there were no reserved signs and she cut me off and said “no, we have reservations all day those aren’t for you.” I told her a inside table was fine then. Upon sitting down it took our server about 10 minutes to greet us, which is totally fine I get it everybody has off days so my friend and I were very understanding. Upon getting our food the food runner dropped it off and then ran away so we weren’t able to ask for condiments. I eventually had to be one of those annoying people and I approached the bar and asked for mustard, and some other sauce. The bartender was very polite and gave it to us fast so I was happy about that and the food was good. Our server, though not very attentive she was a sweetheart so we left her a good tip, the food was also amazing I was just very disappointed in the way we were talked to at the beginning. I felt like because we weren’t kids we were talked down too. We also saw about 10 tables stay empty throughout our entire time eating. I understand restaurants don’t always have the staff for the tables but it looks like they had plenty of servers and it wasn’t that busy at all. The food is great so I will for sure be returning but might try other places in the area first who will be...

So I’ve been at the Windjammer many times. This past Sunday, I ate outside with my granddaughter and friend. The service was horrible. Wait staff came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. We said water and also said that we would have nachos as an appetizer. Absolutely no black olives on it. 20 minutes go by we still don’t have our nachos. OK they’re busy and we see our nachos come out who totally different diff table That table says they weren’t there’s we tried to flag the weight staff, but was too late she went back inside and we never saw nachos again. We finally stopped another waitstaff and said, could you see if her nachos are just sitting in there 15 minutes go by the nachos come out. Wait, staff said I’m sorry they were logged in for the wrong table If they could at least get us more water. We started picking at the nachos that didn’t have olives as we were starving. Still never saw our main waitress 15 to 20 minutes later our food comes out still no waitress. We push the nachos aside And began eating our lunch. We saw our waitress talking to a table down the way my granddaughter flagged her down and said, is there anyway we can get more water yes and kept going. 20 minutes later, we get a pitcher of water. 20 minutes later, she finally comes to the table and says how is everything we said Nachos would have been better without no olives She said I never heard you say no olives would you like boxes for the rest of your food? I said, well I don’t I said the clam chowder was great but the clam fritters were very dry. Oh, I’m sorry she brought us a little machine to give us our bill. and she continued to talk about the no olives. I am a waitress by trade within 5 to 10 minutes after receiving food. She should’ve been at our table asking us how our nachos were and also after our food came. She should’ve been there instead she was going to her choice of tables and having a 15 minute conversation with the people at those tables will I be back to the Windjammer? Yes well I accept her as her waitstaff no. I paid $100 for food that I really did not like...
